Local prosecutors can enforce Michigan's pre-Roe abortion ban, court rules

An appellate court on Monday ruled that the injunction on Michigan's pre-Roe 1931 abortion ban does not apply to local prosecutors, allowing them to enforce the law.

The ban was temporarily blocked in May, allowing for abortion to remain legal in Michigan. Two county prosecutors then sued to stop that order, but the Michigan Court of Appeals dismissed their case because the preliminary injunction "does not apply to county prosecutors."

State officials are still blocked from enforcing the ban. The appeals court's ruling will take effect in 21 days.

The big picture: The ruling is related to a case brought by Planned Parenthood of Michigan, which is asking a court to declare the pre-Roe ban unconstitutional.

I think these people haven't been paying attention to recent news on the topic.

Ok..
I need to chime in..
I know a lot of people that were pissed off about this ruling..
Without expressing my opinion, I proceeded to educate people on the constitutional ramifications of this ruling.
Without expressing my opinion on the matter, I have educated several dozen people of the constitutional matters involved, and educated people about the way our government is supposed to act.
How about we stop gloating, and start educating...
The communist schools do not...
It becomes our job

I’ve done the same but I don’t think it had an effect. It’s too late...it’s whatever programming the Joy Behars of the world have installed into the motherboards of the NPCs.

However, I agree, it is important to try.

It is unworkable to have a state with a patchwork of abortion policies. The ultimate controlling factor is the STATE LAW. Arrest any local abortionists who violate state law.

That’s all very well to write but the communist Michigan AG won’t enforce, so your idea would just result in unlimited baby murder.

Except State Law says abortions are not allowed, but there's a current court order that blocks State officials from enforcing it. This ruling simply clarified that the ban on enforcement only applies to State officials, and county officials are still clear to enforce the law.
