Ex-Minneapolis police officer Mohamed Noor released from prison in fatal shooting of Justine Ruszczyk Damond

Noor was initially convicted of third-degree murder and manslaughter, but the top charge was dismissed and he was resentenced.

MINNEAPOLIS — A former Minneapolis police officer who fatally shot an unarmed woman who called 911 to report a possible sexual assault in the alley behind her home was released from prison on parole Monday, months after his murder conviction was overturned and he was resentenced on a lesser charge.

The Minnesota Department of Corrections website said Mohamed Noor, 36, was placed under the supervision of Hennepin County Community Corrections. He was freed 18 days shy of the fifth anniversary of the July 15, 2017, fatal shooting of Justine Ruszczyk Damond, a 40-year-old dual U.S.-Australian citizen and yoga teacher who was engaged to be married.

Corrections Department spokesman Nicholas Kimball confirmed that Noor was released Monday morning. He said he couldn’t confirm where Noor will be living, but that released offenders are generally supervised by the county where they live. He said Noor was held in North Dakota for most of his sentence and had no disciplinary issues in prison.

I am happy to report I no longer live in Minnesota.

I wonder whether the rumored Red Wave election this fall will even reach them?

Does he get reinstatement, back pay and restitution?

Wouldn’t surprise me.

He was a diversity hire and Minneapolis made a huge deal when he was hired. Now, not so much.

The brooklyn center cop Kimberly Potter, that accidently shot Daunte Wright (she yelled TASER! and fired her service weapon instead) for attempting to flea could not be reached for comment. The prison refused to forward the call.

A piece of excrement lives, while a beautiful angel dies.

Not a hate crime. Not worth rioting over.

At minimum, he’ll get a city job as a crisis interrupter, since he did such a bang up job the last time.

It won’t be long before he is policing somewhere again. And at first chance he will add White Woman number two. But have no fear the Police are on our side. It is Free Republic Dogma.

Under Minnesota sentencing guidelines, Noor — with good behavior — is eligible for supervised release after serving two-thirds of his time. He was convicted April 30, 2019, and immediately taken into custody.

Quaintance's sentencing likely means he'll walk free in the middle of 2022.

Noor was hired under a program to get more Somalis on the Minneapolis police force. A local TV station investigation found that prior to his killing of the Australian woman, Noor had drawn his gun and pointed it at the driver of a car he had pulled over for a routine traffic stop. The driver was terrorized and filed a complaint, but Noor was not disciplined for this incident. In more sane times Noor could even have been terminated from the force by this wanton recklessness.

Note the City of Minneapolis has been under sole control of the Democratic Party for more than four decades.

Yeah, I forgot about St. Arbery.

Still, I can't figure out how the lunkhead who actually held the shotgun got more than a manslaughter charge. Didn't St. Arbery charge him?

St. Arbery not only charged him, he grabbed his gun.

That’s when he got shot, as well he should have.

Absolute miscarriage of justice.
