We need a law that before you can run for another office you have to give up whatever office you currently hold.

Um, most Texans despise California. Even those considered left in Texas, most of whom are to the right of Republicans in most Blue states. (Austin, Houston, and Dallas proper - not the burbs - excepted.) All Newsome probably did is boost Abbott’s overall approval in Texas.

On the one hand, a donor might not be pleased about their donations being used in communications that by definition aren’t going to help him get re-elected, since it’s out of state media.
