Environmental protesters have glued themselves to the glass protecting Sandro Botticelli’s Primavera which is on display at an art gallery in Florence.
The activists, from the climate activist group Ultima Generazione (Last Generation), said the protest was the first in “a new season of actions” targeting museums. It appeared inspired by Just Stop Oil activists in the UK who recently conducted a similar campaign of protests in art galleries.
Two protesters stuck their palms to the exhibit at the Uffizi gallery beforehand, with the help of a third, unfurling a banner reading “Ultima Generazione No Gas No Carbone (Last Generation, No Gas, No Coal).”
A man and two women, who had paid for tickets to get into the gallery, were taken away by police, according to the Italian news agency Ansa.
No damage was caused to the painting, Ansa cited the museum as saying. Botticelli’s 650-year-old Primavera (meaning Spring) is one of the world’s most famous paintings. The Uffizi gallery’s website describes the painting as “a celebration of love, peace, and prosperity”.

A Sawzall would clear that right up. Just take the hands off at the wrist and then you can get the hands off the glass at your leisure.

Come on, guys!
Are they now dead?
What total aholes...
While at the Uffizi, note the numerous crucifixion paintings that could serve as road maps to action.
Heads: chop off their hands
Tails: just leave them there
This kind of bullshit is going to continue until there are some real, meaningful consequences, like 15 years in prison.
I suggest that the hands of the offenders be cut off and super glued to the offenders butts!
As a warning to others, they should come in with a Sawz-All and remove the protestors while leaving their hands attached to the picture.
Glue their butt cheeks together and film them till they explode.
And the Pitti Palace just across the Arno.
Perps should be hung from the Ponte Vechio.
The remaining ones are luminous, fantastic visions of beauty. It makes one weep to think of those that were destroyed.
The Birth of Venus is beyond compare.

Scroll down for some of the grestest works of art of the Renaissance.
While I have little interest in much of what is designated as art, I don’t like to see it defaced. A solvent to dissolve the glue is sure to damage the painting as well.
Oh, they glued to the glass covering the paintings. My bad. Use a heavy duty scraper to remove them.
I’m not sure of the how the Italian police handle suspects like this but I’ve a feeling they’re like the Russian cops.
They don’t tolerate stuff like this and it wouldn’t surprise me if these ‘’activists’’ got lumped up pretty good on the way to the station for pulling a stunt like this.
