Is Russia worthy of being called a “great power,” let alone a superpower? Not to kick someone when they’re down, but it’s difficult to argue that Vladimir Putin represents anything other than a middling regional state, albeit the largest country in the world and one with nuclear weapons.
In the first place, until the Russo-Ukraine War, consider how irrelevant and inconsequential Russia was. For the most part, regarding international relations, Russia scarcely mattered. Moscow has nary a footprint in the Middle East (mainly Syria) and is nonexistent in Asia and other parts of the world. Russia has lost influence in India, Venezuela, Africa, and even North Korea.
Russia is barely a developed country. The most generous economic data gave the country a GDP of around $4.4 trillion in 2020, putting it behind Canada and South Korea, and barely ahead of Brazil and Mexico....

I can completely understand somebody being very interested in the rush in thie war. But absolutely zero posts on anything remotely related to domestic politics for weeks, while making massive posts about Russia? Nothing on the economy, nothing about Biden's screw ups, nothing about the midterm elections. Just...nothing.
Doesn't that seem just a bit odd?
The Eurotrash in the EU are leaning on Serbia hard [they've applied for accession to the EU, 2014, possible acceptance, 2025] to pitch in against the dirty RuZZians.
Yup. :^)
“The Eurotrash in the EU are leaning on Serbia hard [they’ve applied for accession to the EU, 2014, possible acceptance, 2025] to pitch in against the dirty RuZZians.”
It was granted candidate status in 2012; but, you’re right: If all goes well it should gain membership in 2025.
The ties between Serbia and Russia go back quite a way; hell, it pretty much made WWI possible.
Let me be honest. I am not a fan of a large segment of FR posters. It’s not that they are not bright; I don’t mind that. It’s not that they are unaware; I think most people are about this difficult subject. It is that at least 25% of them are rude, insulting, and hurl baseless accusations at people who post things they do not want to hear. In other words, they are not civilized people.
In real life I would not stay in a room they are in; they are that obnoxious. So I ignore their posts to me; I give them the attention they DESERVE: NONE
But, for the 3 subjects you mentioned that I consider exceptionally important....getting Trump elected; clueing in the clueless Freepers with actual information on the incredible dangers of the so called “covid vaxes” and on the existential danger that the new world order that our government is enacting which is resulting in the suicide of America...and the ONE effort being made in the whole world to defeat the globalist world central new order led by elitists/oligarchs/big tech which is Russia defeating the war with NATO I endure the unpleasantness which is unfortunately rampant here.
Excellent, reassuring Robert Barnes interview on 2020 election

Her first FR article, and OF COURSE she forgot to include the link.
My guess is that she's one of those people who float around on different informative Youtube channels.
That's where her current info seems to be coming from.
I won't claim complete innocence in that respect.
Any nation with a possible nuclear arsenal of from 5,000 to 9,000 warheads of mixed types, Is A Major Power!!
It only takes one nuclear missile sub to wreck your day and country!!
They aren’t Communists anymore. Have you been in a modern Russian supermarket? Magnet and Tabris hold their own to any in the USA. Metro is great for Costco-style wholesale. As an American who lived there for several years I wanted for very little on the grocery front.
China, the US, India and Russia will always be Great Powers as long as they are united as a country.
Size does count.
How much damage they can dish out and how much they can take matters.
“Quantity has a quality all its own.” is a Russian quote. Yes, they are still a great power.
Did you see the post that was literally nothing but an ode to the greatness of Spetznaz?

The definition has changed. At one time it meant having a large navy. Today it means nukes.
Do you have links for any of these statistics listed? I would like to see them even if in Russian.
You're not very good at this, Marine.
She was replying to Travis McGee, who posted competing recruiting videos from the US armed forces and Spetsnaz.
The reply was the transcription of the Spetsnaz video, which was in English [there is usually an option on YouBloob vids for a transcription - as I said, she probably surfs lots of Youtube channels for news, and would be familiar with that option. I only learned about it a couple of years ago, with all my years on the Interwebs].
BTW, the video singer was one hot Slavic babe, so thank you for that.
Gonna go back and listen to the whole thing, now.
BTW, your noting of her join date is a good observation. Data is data.
My Cyrillic is getting a real workout these days. Wish that mere boys didn't have to die for that.
Dig it - she's got her own Instagram and Youtube channels.
It’s just hilarious to see these dimbulb Putinists try to gaslight. Today I saw another pic of a anti aircraft wheeled vehicle deployed aboard a Russian navy ship AT SEA. The Russian navy has no air defense and must park trucks on decks of their ships in an attempt to protect them from marauding Ukrainian fishermen. ROFLMAO.
These Putinists clearly believe the old adage that if you repeat a lie enough times it becomes the truth.
You can go on Google earth and “drive around” Russian cities. It’s how I travel cheaply. Russian cities are very CLEAN. They clearly have a lot of land so they have wide streets and sidewalks. You can see a lot of churches. The suburbs tend to have poorer and more run down houses, but it seems they still look safe
It never was.
Yes, I know who he/she was replying to someone else. But I really can’t imagine why you’d go through the hassle of copying down the entire lyrics of a song that basically worships Russia’s special forces, when nobody even asked for it.
