Military families recommending the service to family members plummets -poll

The pay is low. The prestige is falling. The housing is often dilapidated and roach-infested. You move around a lot and your children constantly have to say 'goodbye' to their friends. The wars are lost and the border stands unguarded from invaders. The indoctrination is pure wokesterism, advising you that you're the bad guy and the flag you serve under is worth taking a knee. You take a vaccine known to harm young people, or else. You shower with unreconstructed transgender individuals. You watch as your highly bemedaled top commander doesn't bother with basic military fitness regulations required of you. The consultants get their big-dollar military contracts. You? You just aren't as important.

My father, a decorated war hero, advised me not to join.

I was furious with my brother for allowing my nephew to sign up for the army after graduating high& school this year. Thank God he was turned down thanks to a kidney problem he was born with. They are reviewing his medical records now and they might still take him. I wouldn't want any kid to serve under the scum that run our government and military. It hurts to say that.

I agree, as a retired AF SNCO, I don’t recommend my son join the military due to the wokeness that has taken over the services. The unfortunate result will be the lack of true patriots serving and the ranks will begin to be filled with Marxists, similar to what occurred in 1930s Germany. How much longer after the purge will it be before they will be used against the American citizen. Our future could become very brutal if the course doesn’t change.

Yup. We spend trillions and sacrifice American lives defending our ally’s borders and we put out a welcome mat for mass invasion on our own borders.

Too bad no one points this out to the Biden people, and ask the question, “why”?

While all of the reasons the author stated are true, some existed before but were put up with by patriots wanting to serve their country. For me, the big differences are in the woke, incompetent and affirmative action leadership in the DOD. Because of them and Biden, partiots are the enemy. Add to that, being forced to get a jab of an experimental “vaccine” for political reasons, a vaccine that has been shown to be ineffective, maim and kill, under the threat of legal action or separation is unconscionable in m mind. Finally, and not mentioned is the article is the treatment of illegals vs the treatment of service members and their families. Today, under Biden, Austin, Milley, Garland and Wray, you are better off being an illegal than a soldier.

Pretty much everyone in my immediate family tree served or married someone who served going back to the Revolutionary War. We served all over the spectrum, from draftees to Generals with several serving as civil authorities with Senate confirmations. NONE of us alive would recommend military service today.

I work at a military base and almost no one recommends joining the armed forces. Heck, I wouldn't either and I'm a federal employee.

Now, that being said, my youngest son joined the Navy and he's in training to be air traffic control. He said he needed some direction in life, and so far he's doing great. He's also got a good head on his shoulders, so he's not going in blind to it's many drawbacks.

Each Memorial Day I place flags at no less than half a dozen family members graves with service plaques on them. They range from WWI through Korea. Those six are only about half the immediate family who served.

I am the father of an indentured and non-vaxed and persecuted straight, decent, hard working and still dedicated service member. I would like very much that he was out of the mess with the honor he has earned and deserves. He could have done a whole lot better than a service career but believed it was his duty to serve. No good deed goes unpunished. It is as much my fault as anyone’s. I brought him up with the ideals that encourage service. I thought that bad administrations come and go but never thought that the military was capable of such pervasive decay.

I am very sad for him. His young life and treasure has been wasted on this despicable mess and at least half the people that make up this miserable failed nation. Every day he serves is a day wasted on behalf of people who don’t even deserve to lick his boots.

My grandfather counseled that I never work for a man I could not respect. He forgot to say never work for a man who does not respect you. These oafs that are now only called leaders don’t respect anyone but they love themselves.

No, I would not only not recommend military service, I would do all I could to discourage it. This country and half it’s people are not worthy of the sacrifice for a job that is already a demanding taskmaster and under paid. With the added burden of the whole woke social engineering perversion and the incredibly lousy corrupt leadership it is not worth the torture to be involved.

The military is no place for decent sons. They have earned and deserve much better than this military or this fool government. Recruiters should hang their heads in shame and walk off their posts if they had any guts. Some jobs just aren’t worth having.

I have read every post here and am in good company. I’d have to go with the group who say O-6 and up are all suspect in their honor and support of the troops.

I’d also like to add the same comment about police officers. Who would recommend that to others?

It is a shame to say I hope he is rejected but I doubt he will be.

If I were a young man facing draft without a war to fight I would have to figure out some way to avoid it. A peace time military eats its own and this one is worse than that. Even if we faced a war I would have second thoughts about engaging in what would be futility with the losers we have leading now.

I just haven’t got a good thing to say for the military or gooberment now.

We are known by the company we keep. I would have wanted the star, I am competitive by nature, but I would not like the company today or fold to the terms to be there and didn’t in corpocracy so I left and built a company.

Like promotes like so I didn’t have a prayer of a chance of joining the ranks in the top floor corner offices. It took me a long time to realize that. I am hard headed, determined and competitive but a little slow to give up my idealistic version of life. It is an ugly world and old men are cynical for a reason, it’s called experience.

Don’t get me wrong, I wanted the star because I was confident I could do the job better than at least two of the then-serving GOs and most of my peers. Might be a good thing I didn’t get selected, there’s ego involved at that level that can catch up with you. And if God had wanted me to have a star, nothing could have prevented it.

And you know they are going to double down before the fall elections to push for more gun-control to the extent of either banning weapons or start a disarm campaign above and beyond the “Red Flag Law”. This in itself will start what they want, but they will be able to send in SWAT units to confiscate in the hope of eliminate the threat to their agenda.

I’m a 20 year, still active duty guy. I actively try to prevent people from joining after my experiences of the last several years.

I can’t, in good conscience, recommend a military career to anyone I care about. But, perhaps that was the goal of the powers-that-be.

I did 20 years in the USAF. I wouldn’t do it today. I never encouraged my son to go in, but he wanted to be a USAF pilot, so that is what he did.

Soon we will have no cops or soldiers/sailors. Let’s see what happens next. My take: An OPENLY armed population is a polite population.
