We are known by the company we keep. I would have wanted the star, I am competitive by nature, but I would not like the company today or fold to the terms to be there and didn’t in corpocracy so I left and built a company.
Like promotes like so I didn’t have a prayer of a chance of joining the ranks in the top floor corner offices. It took me a long time to realize that. I am hard headed, determined and competitive but a little slow to give up my idealistic version of life. It is an ugly world and old men are cynical for a reason, it’s called experience.
Don’t get me wrong, I wanted the star because I was confident I could do the job better than at least two of the then-serving GOs and most of my peers. Might be a good thing I didn’t get selected, there’s ego involved at that level that can catch up with you. And if God had wanted me to have a star, nothing could have prevented it.
