A Columbus man has been charged with impregnating a 10-year-old Ohio girl, whose travel to Indiana to seek an abortion led to international attention following the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v Wade and activation of Ohio's abortion law.
Gershon Fuentes, 27, whose last known address was an apartment on Columbus' Northwest Side, was arrested Tuesday after police say he confessed to raping the child on at least two occasions. He's since been charged with rape, a felony of the first degree in Ohio.
Columbus police were made aware of the girl's pregnancy through a referral by Franklin County Children Services that was made by her mother on June 22, Det. Jeffrey Huhn testified Wednesday morning at Fuentes' arraignment. On June 30, the girl underwent a medical abortion in Indianapolis, Huhn said.

I did see that sentence, and, yes, it is cryptic. I suppose they had to avoid making it clear after first mentioning his “last known address” earlier, so as not to risk identifying the child.
It would certainly fit a pattern of live-ins and heartache.

I would be interested in knowing how the rapist had access to the girl. Was the mom just too trusting or was she willfully ignorant?

That culture is pretty liberal on “how old is old enough.”

“13-14 year old males can also make little girls pregnant (in this case he is over 20). If that had happened in this case would it be a crime under Ohio law? If such a thing happened would the case information about the rapist be sealed? Note that leftists are not extremely concerned with finding the person who did this.

Gershon Fuentes, 27, is being held at the Franklin County Jail on a rape charge, according to jail records. He is being held without bond. His next court appearance is July 22.

I think that is correct. Very rare, but it is just what the abortion faction would like to be true. The argument would be: "If you are against abortion you want 10 year old girls to have babies..." This mantra has been around for at least a half century.
Did the pro-abortion side lie about this particular case? I don't know, but they think it's useful for their cause.

What I read was that at one point he said he had seen no evidence it had occurred. Not quite the same. Now somebody confessed. In my view that makes it likely that it did occur, although there have been cases of coerced confessions in the past, especially when the suspect is poor or ignorant.

I’m with you on this.
I’m shocked at what I came up with after just a few minutes
of search. A young Peruvian girl named Lina Medina became
pregnant prior to her fifth birthday in 1933. She gave
birth at 5 years, 7 months, and 21 days. She was an example
of what they term ‘precocious puberty’. No, I hadn’t heard
of it either.
I thought I might find a case of eight or nine years of age,
but found this instead.
To be sure, this is very very rare. Anything under ten
isn’t that usual.
There are instances of pre-teen child abuse where a family
member impregnates a young girl. I didn’t readily find
figures on this category, but I did run into a factoid that
mentioned the CDC has recently termed teenage pregnancies
at the lowest on record. (the last 70 years or so)
I did want to mention that this ten year old’s case we
have been discussing, a man did confess to impregnating
her. (read it on the forum yesterday)
