Musk: Time for Trump to 'Sail Into Sunset'

Elon Musk responded to Donald Trump's recent criticism by saying it was time for the former president to "hang up his hat & sail into the sunset."

Musk commented via Twitter after sharing a story about Trump on Saturday night calling the Tesla and SpaceX CEO a "bullsh*t artist."

"I don't hate the man, but it's time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset," Musk tweeted Monday night. "Dems should also call off the attack – don't make it so that Trump’s only way to survive is to regain the Presidency."

Musk's tweet came after Trump's appearance at a rally in Alaska, where the former president suggested the billionaire's move to buy Twitter was a ruse. Trump also called Musk a liar for saying he had never voted for a Republican.

After Musk’s "sunset" tweet, talk show host Joe Pags Pagliarulo asked the billionaire whether he had an issue with Trump's presidency, pointing out policies regarding energy independence, lower regulations, construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline, and a the southern border.

"Yeah, but too much drama. Do we really want a bull in a china shop situation every single day!?" Musk tweeted. "Also, I think the legal maximum age for start of Presidential term should be 69."

Another Twitter follower asked Musk why he wouldn't support a 2024 GOP national ticket with Trump at the top and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as the vice president nominee. DeSantis then could run in ’28 and ’32.

"Trump would be 82 at end of term, which is too old to be chief executive of anything, let alone the United States of America," Musk tweeted in response.

"If DeSantis runs against Biden in 2024, then DeSantis will easily win – he doesn’t even need to campaign."

Trump has too thin a skin.

It all began with Musk commenting that he had not made a decision of who to vote for in 2024.

Trump then claimed that Musk had told him he voted for Trump in 2020.

And of course Trump liked Musk’s attacks on Twiter over free speech concerns.

But, speaking to his fans at a rally, Trump, noting Musk’s non-commital about 2024, then referred to Musk’s approach to Twiiter as disengenuos and because of that as Musk as a “B.S.” artist.

But who can see Trump doing differently on a Twitter acquisition than Musk has done.

Trump should quit creating public fights that do not need to be created. They just demonstrate his thin skin and maximized issues all about him and not about the major ideas the majority behind him support, support with no matter who supports those ideas.

I agree.. much as I like what Trump has stood for, he’ll be nearing 78 in the ‘24 election, his continual claims about 2020 (rightly or wrongly) aren’t winning new converts and there are far too many who will refuse to vote for him without exception. It’s time for him to take pride in what he has accomplished and step aside.

Dear SunkenCiv.....

I doubt one person you included in your response give a flying f*ck about gigafactories or Tesla sales. It would appear that you’re an EV-fan and tech person. Nothing wrong with that.

Take away the tax breaks for EV, that no voter agreed to provide, and their sales will drop. Lots and lots of problems are starting to surface about EVs, but folks like you will say....One day EVs will be able to do this, that and the other thing. NO ONE CARES!!!!

You can have your opinion about Pres Trump and possible competition from Musk. Give Musk a call and tell him to have a rally. Then President Trump can also have a rally.

President Trump called him out for what he is and always has been. And now he’s mad.

He’s the richest guy on the planet. People like you give you credence to him because of that .... his cars, that he didn’t invent-just marketed them and convinced the government to provide tax breaks to rich guys ... and because you all convinced yourselves that he was going to save free speech, even though one of the first things he was going to do to Twitter is charge a fee - thus being able to recoup all his money - Capitalism, baby.

Think what you want. Musk is in bed with China. Enemy of the United States. When China decides to cut off the battery supply chain, every EV company in the world disappears.

“Yeah, but too much drama. Do we really want a bull in a china shop situation every single day!?”

Unlike the cool, calm, collected and never outrageous or bombastic Elon Musk. Let’s ask his baby mamas and employees about the daily drama of dealing with him.

“Did Trump call Musk a liar?

That is SO not like him. Trump only attacks someone when they attack him first.”

Yep. I was wondering the same. Trump is a counter puncher. Seldom is he the one that lands the first blow.

The first time he was new to DC, and first he had Paul Ryan thwarting him and Nancy Pelosi. This time he knows who and what to go after.

He has 4 years to line up allies and he knows who not to trust. What he needs to do is have personnel lined up before he takes office, needs to demand the resignation letter of ever single appointed person, trump is the only one tough enough to do it. DeSantis ( who I really like) would be destroyed. Look at what trump accomplished without anyone helping.

No, it has to be Trump, unless your aim is to destroy both Trump and DeSantis.

How many elections did Hank “Guam is going to tip over” Johnson lose due to his buffonary? None. No, the problem is myopic GOP voters here. They have no stomach for this fight against violent marxists. So instead they will prepare to be ruled by Democrats.

Green energy and Tesla is a scam to help destroy the US.

Do you think voters as a whole poll the same as do Johnson's? Do you think the country as a whole is as wildly left-wing as is his district? I don't. Congress has always had a fair share of fringe nutbags from very safe districts. That doesn't mean that same approach would be successful in other districts, or in the country as a whole.

It's not like Johnson is exactly leading in polling for the Presidency in 2024.

Well then you might as well just take your ball and go home, huh?

Look, you are always going to have fights and lose some battles when standing up firm for your beliefs. But that's fine, because those are battles that need, to be fought. The problem is controversy/giving offense needlessly, for its own sake.

It's the difference between standing up for yourself when bullied, and just running around punching random people.

The first time he was new to DC, and first he had Paul Ryan thwarting him and Nancy Pelosi. This time he knows who and what to go after.

Ryan pushed through the biggest tax reform bill since at least the early 80's. He also pushed through partial repeal of Obamacare, which only sank in the Senate because of McCain. But...who is Trump going to have in 2024? Trumpers hate McCarthy. Bottom line is that Presidents don't get to choose who is going to lead in Congress. They have to figure out how to work with them as best they can.

In any case, that's Congress. The true swamp is in the Executive Branch, and that was Trump's right from the start. it doesn't appear that the people he was appointing later in his first term were any more successful than those he appointed at the beginning.

He has 4 years to line up allies and he knows who not to trust.

Who, though? That's the problem. Where are all his allies who know Washington, know the people, and can pick all the folks to replace those people and to reform civil service if necessary? He looks to be in even worse shape in that regard than he was before his first term because he's basically pissed off at nearly everyone from his first Administration. So who is left who is going to do that detail work?

So you think DeSantis will fare any better? Come on! Anyone who is going to try to get things done will be heavily attacked. Trump won’t be damaged by doing what needs to be done, he is already hated by the DS. DeSantis would be attacked just like Trump and would only end up with one term so instead of having 12 years ( 4 Trump and 8 DeSantis) to get the country back on track we would only have 4. And we will have destroyed a promising career for nothing.

Your argument is that the media is unfair, therefore it doesn't matter what a candidate says or does because they're going to be attacked anyway.

I think that's a ridiculous argument, so I'll just leave it at that.
