I was not a big fan of Abe , but felt genuinely sorry to learn of the shooting and subsequent death . Oh - I live in Japan .

Why?
Japan has its share of radicals on the right and the left.
I would bet this is a simple case of a long gunman with a personal political grudge, as opposed to some dark conspiracy.
Regardless, he will swing for his crime.
Abe “died of blood loss.”
Exsanguination
(not blood thirsty, I just like the sound of that word)
This sucks but it does bring up an important point. Gun control does not stop crime using guns. If I’m not mistaken; Japan has some of the strictest gun control.
” it was a handmade gun.”
A GHOST gun!
Japan “a country that has some of the world’s strictest laws on gun ownership”
The killer would just have used throwing stars.
Killers gonna KILL!
Was the longest serving PM in Japanese history. Gave up position in 2012 due to serious digestive issues Then won election again serving until 2020 when he again gave up position for same reason. An arch conservative Felt country needed to change constitution due to threats from N. Korea and China.
Abe lied to the world about Fukushima, and a lot of American and Japanese military went into the radioactive hell hole and were exposed. Lots of these people now have Leukemia and rare cancers. My theory is that this guy had Leukemaia and was going to die soon. He blamed Abe for it.
Abe murder suspect quit most recent job after he felt ‘tired’
No motive given.
“Homemade” gun? One more reason why gun control is silly.
They need to pass laws against outlaws making homemade guns 🤪
