Liz Cheney is returning to Wyoming after a busy week of hearing public testimony before the House Jan. 6 committee to debate Republican primary challengers including Harriet Hageman, her Donald Trump-endorsed opponent.
Cheney will likely draw criticism in Thursday’s televised debate for investigating the former president’s effort to overturn the 2020 election and his encouragement of the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
While Cheney has taken a key role as one of just two Republicans on the House committee, she’s faced a backlash among Republicans in deep-red Wyoming.
The state Republican Party last year censured her and voted to no longer recognize her as a Republican. Even so, Cheney has if anything increased her national profile, out-raising Hageman by a well over 2-to-1 margin over the first three months of 2022.
Thursday’s debate hosted by Wyoming PBS in Sheridan will be closed to the public for security reasons and to prevent people from disrupting the event, the station’s General Manager Terry Dugas said in a statement.

If I were the GOP candidate she wants to debate I’d flat out tell her that I don’t consider her GOP in the sense of conservatism and that she should be debating the Democrat Candidate instead.
It’s a lose-lose situation for the GOP Candidate. She has everything to gain and nothing to lose, AFAIC. And for that I’d cut her off at the knees and refuse, ESPECIALLY if PBS runs the debate. It’s time to stop thinking of how moderates and independents will take this action or that action and stand up for common sense.
Cheney is a “republican”? I see no evidence to support that claim.
Sheridan is a liberal resort town with a lot of out-of-state money.

We’ll see. I still suspect the public isn’t allowed at the behest of cheney herself. She’s a nasty piece of work that one.
The key word in your comment is “public”. Performing before a camera in isolation hardly fits the description of “public debate” and the format is clearly designed to prevent any interaction with her constituents. Not much different from a TV infomercial.
Since PBS is totally publicly funded-—they CANNOT keep the public out of the debate-—and ONLY let in the media.

I completely agree. She got very early tutelage from her NWO father about Congress and how to lie and get ahead. ONE TERM and she is already staking out her mark as the after-Trump GOP Messiah.

If democrats had to compete on a truly level playing field I submit that the jackass party wouldn’t even exist today.
No audience and PBS is running the show.
Prediction: Cheney gets 30% in the primary.
The moderator may be tilted towards Cheney, but how does simply excluding an audience give Cheney an unfair advantage?
