No such thing as full recovery and just because his physical therapy begins immediately does mean he’ll be able to return to DC that soon. Hopefully, he recovers (not before mids) and retires. Senate actually favors republicans now.
He already announced his retirement before his accident.

Bernie Sanders is the other US Senator from Vermont. Another superannuated, doctrinaire, and overly opinionated blowhard, with no accomplishments other than getting elected to office repeatedly in a small state. But he does make Patrick Leahy look like a “moderate”.
