The GOP is considering a 15-week ban on abortion following the demise of the constitutional right to the procedure, according to influential anti-abortion legislator Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ).
Smith is the chief backer of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would outlaw the procedure after the 20th week of pregnancy. But Republicans are expected to shorten the deadline for obtaining an abortion still further, Smith told CNN.

States are already taking the lead on this, this is completely unnecessary.
France has a 12 week limit...
Prolly just trolling the left.
Life is not created at 15 weeks.
The feds need to let the states handle this.
Like that’ll pass - this is just “we’re gonna cancel Obamacare” pandering.
Where were you morons with the gun control bill that just passed and you ALLOWED if not outright voted for it?!
The feds should just butt out.
The Constitution DOES NOT give the federal government any power in this area. THAT is what the SUPREME COURT just said. It is up to the states unless there is a Constitutional amendment. These are idiot Republicans.
Never underestimate the Republican Party’s ability to steal defeat from the jaws of victorty.
What a cabal of totally clueless, used asswipes. I guess these fools really do not want to be the majority party afterall - well, alrighty then - FK ‘EM.
If they are truly this stupid, then the entirety of the GOP can all go straight to Hell.
The present crop of Republicans are, for the most part, the biggest bunch of assclowns that ever occupied Congress. Most of them are about as useful as teats on a bull.
Unless a state line is crossed, I’m not seeing the federal nexus, unless we are going with tendentious lefty interpretations of the Interstate Commerce Clause.
Either he’s trolling or he didn’t read the decision.
By October, gas will be around $15 a gallon, food shelves will be bare, jobs scarce, and home prices will have crashed beyond anything we’ve ever seen, and that’s excluding the high probability that there will be no nuclear exchange with Russia.
What part of “It’s up to the states” don’t they understand? The federal government has no role in this issue. Never did.
Republicans just don’t get it. Their sole purpose should be to stay within the limits of power the US Constitution defines. That means they should be repealing laws and regulations nonstop for the next 50 years. Government is the problem and the vast majority of the federal government needs be shuttered and their non-constitutional powers neutered. There is no power for congress to legislate for or against abortion.
I thought the same thing. Alito's opinion was clearly to DE-FEDERALIZE this. Get Nancy Pelosi, Merrick Garland, and HHS out of this, and return it to the states - where it was before R v W.
So stupid House Republicans bring it right back to Fed.gov!
How about a 15 week ban on government? 3x a yr. 😎
No, trying to limit the fallout for the midterms. I don't see it working.
They should. But they won't.
Maybe they don’t get it because they are not real Republicans?
There’s a name for them..oh yeah,RINOs.
Had the GOP stayed out of the gun control debate, they would be crushing the Democrats right now.
Will I still vote for them? Damn skippy. Because my Senator is Ron Johnson and I don't want that scumbag Evers to get a 2nd term.
