Solid state batteries dont have these flame up problems. That’s why Toyota has spent 10 years developing that tech and will be rolling it out.

I would never park one in the garage and keep it some distance from the house.

Just imagine if there were a lot of these things on the highways bumping into each other and other things then catching on fire.

Environmentalists and fire departments everywhere will insist in the future...

That EV makers pay for removal of batteries from crashed vehicles and junked vehicles as a precaution against future fire events. And those batteries will have to be disposed of properly, and taken apart into individual cells that wont cause a chain reaction fire.

Guess who’ll have to pay for that at vehicle purchase time?

"Crews knocked the fire down, but the car kept re-igniting and off-gassing in the battery compartment,"

NEVER take your Tesla through the drive-thru at Taco Bell.

Why didnโ€™t the scrap yard remove the battery - donโ€™t they have salvage value?

Lithium has a chemical reaction with water. The reason it needed so much water was all that Lithium had to react with the water to eventually neutralize it. Don’t get your phone wet!
