JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis is getting more involved in local school board races across the state by endorsing candidates. He released a survey recently gauging candidates’ stances on face masks, charter schools, critical race theory and more. The survey is essentially a litmus test for any school board hopeful who wants to secure Gov. DeSantis’s endorsement.

The pledge specifically says the candidate will, “Reject lockdowns, increase teacher pay, and reject critical race theory.”

How’s President DeSantis doing?

Oh wait he’s never been POTUS and is Governor of Florida.

If wins re-election he’ll be governor until 2026.

Looks like 2028 is a promising year for DeSantis to go national and declare his candidacy in the Republican Primary.

If Trump wins in 2024, it'll be tough for DeSantis to run in 2028. We tend to alternate between parties when it comes to the President. The last time we stayed with the same party was Bush 41 in '88.

It long past time that school boards get cleaned out

Far too many childless adults and lesbians ruining kids lives

Same goes for school counselors

Nobody will be hurt by having a primary for the 2024 nomination. It will keep Trump on his toes and listening to his base more than his daughter and the Pharma executives.

“ If wins re-election he’ll be governor until 2026”

There is no law against a sitting governor running in presidential primaries in 2024. A primary will be good for Trump, keep him alert and in touch with voters. And it’s looking like there will be primary contestants - Pompeo and Pence - even if Desantis holds back. Pompeo and Pence are already shadow boxing with Trump by campaigning against candidates against some Trump endorsees.

increase teacher pay

Hardly a true conservative position.

Instead of being an AFT/NEA shill say:

increase teacher pay by eliminating administrative positions

True, unless it’s to neutralize organized teacher opposition as he pushes to get control over curriculum and other policies.

Yup....that’s why I’m offering an “expenditure-neutral” alternative.

BTW even most of the most die-hard education unionists despise bloated administration...who are NOT part of the bargaining unit!

I prefer DeSantis because he would make better picks in his administration, but I can live with Trump.

Excellent on the critical race theory and the masking — it’s about we had some leadership.

I suspect that the support for increasing teachers’ pay is intended to defuse political opposition. (Plus maybe it’s not such a bad idea for teachers’ salaries to be high enough to attract quality candidates who could get jobs elsewhere if they wanted to, instead of blue-haired misfits who are fans of drag queen culture.)

Same party Presidents were re-elected with Obama, W, Clinton … but not GHW Bush (unless you meant a successor VP to President).

The 1988 election was the first presidential election since 1948, and the most recent to date, in which a party won a third consecutive presidential term.

Here’s the magnificence of this- how will the terrorist organization known as the Florida Teachers Union going to rally against a BOE member who’s in favor of higher pay for teachers?

This is good news. We go to every school board meeting & encourage everyone to check out yours. You won’t believe the drama. Our board is arrogant and is trying to build a new $70 million school even though they’re $130 million in debt. I should add it’s a small town.

Yes, Desantis is not a cookie cutter conservative. He thinks “outside the box” - not to sell out the conservative agenda like a Graham but to advance it. So proposing higher pay for teachers can help advance the goal of ending wokism in the curriculum, by confounding/disarming the school-union bosses.
