Texas official: Uvalde shooter driven by social media fame, 'abhorrent behavior' went unchecked for months
Fox News ^ | 6/21/22 | Danielle Wallace

Texas officials holding a special Senate hearing on the Uvalde elementary school mass shooting recognized how despite the 18-year-old gunman’s prior "abhorrent behavior" and animal abuse being common knowledge in the small town of just 17,000 people it was never reported to law enforcement.

During his testimony, Col. Steve McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, also acknowledged how social media — and the lure of instant worldwide notoriety — may have motivated 18-year-old Salvador Ramos to commit the act of mass violence at Robb Elementary School on May 24.

In the aftermath of the shooting that left 19 children and two teachers dead, McCraw told the Texas Senate "Special Committee to Protect All Texans" that he has interviewed between 500 to 700 people so far as part of continuing investigations. He said one teacher told him Ramos "was the student who scared her the most" and that the suspect had begun "dressing like a mass shooter" months before.

"Out of all these interviews, how many times did they tell you he was the one they were worried about?" Texas state Sen. Paul Bettencourt, a Republican, asked McCraw.

"Several times. We had one teacher who said she was always worried about him," McCraw said. "He was the one student who scared her most. We discussed, as I mentioned earlier, last year he started dressing like a school shooter, started acting like a school shooter."

McCraw noted how the revelations from at least half a dozen individuals of Ramos’ concerning behavior happened after the shooting and were never reported to law enforcement beforehand.

This scenario is eerily similar to so many others.

But still, rifles, optics, ammo, magazines and plate armor/ With taxes you’re looking at $5,000-$6,000 easy.

"Social media" is an oxymoron.

It is anti-social and driven by extremes...not the via media (way of the middle)

Don’t forget the 80,000 dollar F250 Platinum. That belonged to his grandparents...

That's what I read also. And that he didn't know how to drive. If you notice in some of the images he lost control and lost or bent wheels and axles. It was like a block down the street, how to crash that bad in such a short distance.

At the Fox news link I don't get the pic of the classroom door. Did they cut the door in half to take it to the state senate? It appears so. It doesn't look like there's any bullet holes in it, and it looks like there's a window in the middle of the door. Seems like they could have posted guys at the various windows (two per classroom to schoolyard and one per door to hallway) and used radios to find the open shot. But of course, it was donut time for some reason.

Like the Vegas shooting, I don't think we ever get a straight story on this one. Stinks!

In black, preferably with a trench coat or western duster as styled by the Columbine shooters. The media latched onto a “trench coat mafia” narrative early on and it entered into the lore although it has no basis in fact. The look may have originally been inspired by the 1993 movie Tombstone and

After all the these weeks, I thought the gun was the reason he shot all those kids, but it turns out that he did that because he was a psycho.

and the lure of instant worldwide notoriety

You can work all your life, get 100 patents, cure cancer and find solution to world problems and nobody, except for small circle of fellow coworkers, will know your name.
But shooting few innocent children, that will make you famous! They may even pass laws named after you?!
Our society is sick!

“also acknowledged how social media — and the lure of instant worldwide notoriety — may have motivated 18-year-old Salvador Ramos to commit the act of mass violence”

The big question is just who was behind that social media influence.

Who knows? This is my point. No Freeper knows exactly what transpired yet they are calling these cops cowards. I’m not going to follow these leftist effeminate Freeper lemmings on the Uvalde Cops are Cowards bandwagon.

"At least one Law Enforcement Officer was shot once in the head and once in the leg trying to breech"

"Eighteen people were injured, including the perpetrator's grandmother and two police officers. Abbott said the two officers were struck by bullets but had no serious injuries."

"Shot in the head" = "no serious injuries"??

C'MON MAN when have you ever seen 'shot in the head' result in 'no serious injuries'. You 'contacted people that were on the scene'? Who did you contact?

It was a Border Patrol officer who killed the shooter. He arrived later and his wife and child were in the school. He went in, on his own, and killed the prick. NOT A MEMBER OF THE SCOOL POLICE! The shooter would have killed everyone if it was up to them
