Perhaps foreseeing a Russian win or stalemate in Ukraine, some foreign policy experts urge that it cede territory. French President Emmanuel Macron calls for not “humiliating” Russia. These entreaties could miss the mark. The battlefield is fluid and could turn for or against Ukraine. The West should prudently prepare for Ukrainian success as well as a less favorable outcome.
A few weeks ago, euphoria reigned when Ukrainian forces pushed back Russian attempts to seize Kyiv, Kharkiv and Odesa — Ukraine’s three largest cities. Now, pessimism is ascendant. President Volodymyr Zelensky speaks of “very fierce” fighting in eastern Ukraine and high casualties. Ukrainians may be running out of some ammunition.

“We have zero national interest in Ukraine.”
Exactly! would this war have gone on this long if no country provided arms?

Hi.
“We have zero national interest in Ukraine.”
I agree with you and so does about 300 million Americans.
But Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, John F’in Kerry, the State department, George Soros and many others disagree.

More likely, what if they don’t? What if they consolidate power in Donbas and Ukraine has to deal with it?

Who really gives a damn if Russia fails or succeeds? We have zero national interest in Ukraine.
We learned int eh 1940s not to allow a revanchist and irridentist tyrant to declare neighboring countries illegitimate and invade them.
Puting asside history and morality, we have real national interests:
1. The US, UK, and Russians all agreed to respect and protect the sovereignty of Ukraine in the agreement, where Ukraine gave up its nukes and large Soviet stockpiles. Our word has to mean something, or international treaties and arms negotiations are meaningless.
2. Russia is allied with China and Iran. A Russian victory in Ukraine drastically increases the risk of a PRC invasion of the ROC, and a resuting war between the US and Red China.
3. Preventing a war between the NATO and Ukraine. Russian invasion maps of Ukraine showed an invasion of Moldova to annex its Stalinist breakaw region. An invasion of Moldova could easily bring in Romanians, who are members of NATO. And then we have the Russian aims to retake the Baltic Republics, which are part of NATO. The Russian parliament is debating a bill to strip recognition of the independence of Lithuania.

I don’t get your point, or maybe you do not understand what a national interest is. Answer this, How does Russia and Ukraine directly affect the every day lives of 330m Americans? Don’t give me some economic consequence of Biden allowing this war to occur - such as gas, wheat, fertilizer prices. We know that if Trump was in office this would have never happen, so those a moot points.

Trump isn’t president. Put aside your fantasy and read what I wrote. BTW, our national interest would be the same under Trump
