The US State Department said they are aware of reports that a third American who traveled to Ukraine to fight against Russia has gone missing "in recent weeks."
"There are reports of one additional American whose whereabouts are unknown. I can't speak to the specifics of that case. Unfortunately we don't know the full details of that case," said State Department Spokesperson Ned Price at a press briefing on Thursday.
Price said the department is in contact with the families of the two other US citizens reportedly captured in the country, as well as Ukrainian authorities and the International Committee of the Red Cross, but that they similarly could not confirm reports that these two citizens were captured.
Price also said that the US is not in contact with Russia about the reportedly captured American citizens because they do not yet have "credible reason" to believe the Russians have captured them and also because Russia has not claimed to have captured them.

Two mercenaries from the United States are taken prisoner by Russian troops near Kharkov.
According to The Telegraph, 39-year-old Alexander Druke and former Marine 27-year-old Andy Hyun served as volunteers in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They are considered the first Americans captured during a special operation.
“We were fulfilling our mission, but everything went completely wrong. We were told that the city was free. But it turned out that the Russians were already storming it, ”a colleague of the captured mercenaries confirmed the information to the publication.
The author of the article fears that Moscow may use the captured Americans as evidence that the United States is directly involved in the military conflict.
The Arctic Circle is nice this time of year.

They are pushing the headlines as though these men are active US Military in headlines but reading you find out they are not.
They are sensationalizing their service as though the US military is active now in the Ukraine. They need WW III to start.

Yep, they are trying to sway the uninformed.... active US Military personnel cannot join any foreign force military branch, even friendlies. That is considered Treason.
That, or CIA goons working to destabilize Ukraine the way they have destabilized America over the last six years. No pity from me. At least we’re not seeing young Army and Marine sons forced into this situation. Not yet.
The Russian military says it tracks 530 US personnel and mercenaries, of them 214 killed, 227 deserted or left Ukraine, 89 still at large.
