Former Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed, who spent nearly his entire career playing alongside a friend and fellow player charged with murder, believes that the $100,000 fine the Washington Commanders levied against defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio is “not enough.”
On Friday, the Washington Commanders fined Del Rio $100,000 for referring to the January 6 Capitol riots as a “dust-up.”
Del Rio had made the “dust-up” comment while addressing a tweet in which he questioned the emphasis the left has placed on the January 6 riots while seeming to not possess the same level of interest in prosecuting those who rioted across the country in the aftermath of the killing of George Floyd.
Though Del Rio apologized for calling the riots a “dust-up,” Ron Rivera, the Commanders head coach and longtime friend of Del Rio, publicly criticized his coach and friend for the comments while calling January 6 an act of “domestic terrorism.”

I hope he owns the league in five years.
Ok we’ll stop watching. Enough people do this and....
Imagine a world where speaking truth has a cost.....
I very seriously doubt that. People who worship NFL players will support and worship them. No matter what the NFL players do to humiliate them.
Its Washington DC after all, woke capital of the world.
Wrongthink must be punished.

Del Rio needs to get away from these lunatics.
But supporting BLM riots is ok.
I’m curious. Is there a labor law legal basis for fining players and coaches in NFL? If you’re working on a loading dock and you drive the forklift into something expensive, you can’t get fined for damaging company property. You can get sent home unpaid, you can get fired, maybe even prosecuted, but fined? No go.
But players get fined all the time for bad hits, coaches get fined for saying hurtful things about the refs, and all of it is just hunky dory. I think some fines have even been contested, maybe even gone to court, but the whole act of fining players, staffers, and coaches is still there.
Maybe it’s because the NFL is a monopoly and the expectation is that anyone who is drawing pay to play a game should act thankful for the opportunity, maybe not enough players have worked real jobs, or know that if they did, they would never make seven figures doing it with their skillset if it weren’t for pro sports.
If Del Rio decided to make a stink about it and just say “you know what, pay me or fire me, but I never agreed to be fined for saying what’s on my mind about something that doesn’t touch football. My lawyers will be in touch.”, it couldn’t happen to a better team.

Talking to you NFL. Hope you didn’t mortgage anything.
And where grooming children is OK.
And there's your mistake. Never apologize, never complain and never explain. We need to revive the ancient tradition that a man walk like a man.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.
One other thing. What do you mean by "riots? How many riots were there? I'm assuming that in each riot cars were burned, people killed, stores looted, etc.
And if there was a coup, where was the airplane waiting at the tarmac to carry the old president into exile so the new one could take over? If an insurrection, then the insurgents would have been armed to the teeth and have military backup. To call the little parade choreographed by the Democrats a riot or anything else is a bastardization of the English language.
Calling this silliness a dust-up is being generous.
This whole thing is nothing but leftist hate for a President who they could not succeed in removing by lies and deceit or by anything but cheating in a fraud election. A year and a half later, they’ve tripled-down trying to keep him from getting fairly elected - again.
And, finally, the biggest insult in this is where the fine money will be donated. A band of murdering, political thugs, IMO.
I’m one of those guilty of still watching football, despite them hating me. Gave up all other team sports (do watch boxing and UFC), but damn football.... Goal this year to get a Sunday afternoon hobby to break the habit.
I will root for whichever team the Commieanders are playing against.
I didn’t know Coach Rivera also wrote DNC talking points too as well as being head coach of the Redskins.
