Former President Trump endorsed House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Saturday, calling him “strong and fearless.”
In a post on social media site Truth Social, Trump said McCarthy is an “outstanding representative for the people of California.”
“In Congress, Kevin is a tireless advocate for the people of Bakersfield and the Central Valley. He is working incredibly hard to Stop Inflation, Deliver Water Solutions, and Hold Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi Accountable for their catastrophic failures and dereliction of duty,” Trump wrote. “Kevin McCarthy has my Complete and Total Endorsement.”

Read post #29 and learn something abot strategies.
I think Georgia played us...lotsa new residents for the runoff.
It’s not Trump’s fault nobody challenged him in the primary. Now we’re stuck with him.
Whatever keeps the train on the track and gaining speed.
McCarthy is the new Graham!
He’s pretty consistently a conservative. Nothing wrong with that. Why go after a seat that he’s more than likely to win.
Since downstate New York State electors always go to the Democrat Presidential candidate, elect our Democrat U.S. Senators, and our Democrat Governors, not to mention creating the Democrat-run State Legislature, despite the fact that I live in a red county, and the majority of the State counties are Red, it doesn't matter whether I vote or not. My vote won't ever be missed. I like myself better when I'm not compromising my values in order to make someone else happy.
I won't have to worry about that, because the Republicans will never do anything to eliminate it, and since I've already outlived everyone else in my family, the odds of me living long enough to actually see it happen, is slim to none. I might not even be alive in 2024 to vote for Trump, if he even runs. In truth, I hope he doesn't run again, because the constant abuse and harassment he, and everyone who supports him will be subjected to, will be 100-fold of what it's been these past 6 years.
They made a deal.
Endorsing candidates with virtually no chance of losing is meaningless. He can't claim credit for making a difference. He's just going along for the ride.
He figures McCarthy is going to win anyway, so why not have that win improve his own win/loss record.
The large majority of his endorsements are for candidates who would have won anyway, endorsement or not. Where is there any credit in that for him?
Charlie McCarthy would be a better choice.
Because it builds momentum, increases the perception of the power of his endorsement. So, when the endorsement grows in perceived power, at some or several points its ‘power’ will tilt the balance somewhere critical. In politics perception is almost everything!
“We needed Republican to vote in order to overcome the cheating but too many Republicans stayed home.”
Why don’t you point the finger at the GOP establishment? They’re the ones who keep pushing moderates and RINOs onto the electorate.
I’m sure a lot of Georgia voters were tired of being betrayed. The Governor, Secretary of State and state legislature were instrumental in stealing the election.
What power of his endorsement? McCarthy is going to win this overwhelmingly with or without Trump's endorsement. If anything it makes Trump look a bit pathetic. Like he's jumping on the McCarthy bandwagon instead of the other way around.
Jim Jordan should be speaker. He’s smart and tough.
Jim Jordan.
“Where is there any credit in that for him?”
High information voters like you and me ignore endorsements altogether - we think for ourselves rather than let someone else tell us who to vote for. But 80% of voters are not high information voters, so the endorsement “game” is very real.
In 2024, the down-ticket Republican candidates and party leaders are going to make a calculation regarding which Presidential candidate will have “coattails”. That calculation won’t be based on what they think of Trump - it will be based on what they believe the 80% think of Trump.
It’s the same with product endorsements - if you are William Shatner and you want to keep getting paid the big $$$ for your product endorsements, you will probably want to decline endorsement gigs for products you believe are going to fail, because otherwise your “brand” as an endorser would also suffer.
