Trump Endorses Kevin McCarthy, Pisses Off His Own Supporters
Daily Beast ^ | 6/4/22 | Zachary Petrizzo

Despite Donald Trump's own followers booing and calling Republican House leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) a “RINO,” the ex-president sent out a statement late Saturday night endorsing McCarthy in his quest for 2022 re-election. “Congressman Kevin McCarthy is an outstanding Representative,” Trump wrote, calling the GOP House leader “strong” and “fearless.” However, after posting the endorsement to his Truth Social platform, Trump's followers expressed disappointment in the comment section.

Trump is burning his bridges rapidly.

He lost my vote with his Dr Oz endorsement in my Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

This is the final straw.

I might not even vote for Trump if he wins the nomination now.

What the hell is wrong with people! Trump got amazing things done under impossible situation. But your little feelings are hurt and you aren’t going to vote for him.

Oh, fer bleep’s sake people.

You go to war with the army you’ve got, not the one you wish you had.

Have some faith in the guy.

He’s earned it.

Don’t know why Trump is endorsing RINOs.
And this particular one is a weak kneed, spineless slug.

I don’t think he’ll support him as Speaker, just for re-election because he probably doesn’t have a primary challenger. Or does he?

Not a serious opponent.

Trump is endorsing him for reelection and as Leader. If the GOP takes the House in 2022 then McCarthy, as leader, will become Speaker. How is Trump's endorsement not also an endorsement of that?

AGreed. I am reminded about MYSELF in 2015/16 when I did NOT support Trump. I was very worried about his stance on abortion and a few other things. I was quickly proven wrong after his election and gladly pulled the lever in 20. He is not perfect but he’s doing alot of things right and I have to defer to his own DD in some of these circumstances because he is including other issues into his decisions that I may not being considering. This is not to say he gets it right every time but he is moving forward in the right direction. He’s also exposing alot of our enemies that we would have never thought about prior. Liz Cheney?

In my own personal life if I win more than I lose, I am ahead. But you have to take swings to git hits, not sit in the grandstands. Anyone batting over 50% used to be a hero.

Even when the general is endorsing lieutenants who shoot their own troops?

Lack of choice in the Cali 20th district. I just don’t see the reason to endorse him. He’s been in politics for 20 years and I’m sure he has plenty of money to campaign. He always managed get elected and re-elected for many years before Trump came along.

I’m fine with wanting to keep the seat red, or in this case, maybe pink, but calling him a strong and fearless leader? Gimme a break. That’s just a slap in MAGA’s face. A low key endorsement would have been fine.

Go ahead and tell us how great all of these wonderful politicians are compared to President Trump.

First, Trump has endorsed anti-gun and anti-constitution candidates who stab us in the back every chance they get.

You can bend over and accept Trump's insertion, asking for another. But most of us think for ourselves.

I would support DeSantis in an instant over Trump and I am confident DeSantis would beat Trump in the primary easily.

Conservatives who refuse the Republican party are defacing the only path to achieve some aspects of the conservative agenda

Some of this might just be Trump betting on an already-likely winner — to keep his batting average up…

I have been the loudest advocate for staying with the GOP and taking it over from within.

But you can't do that when the party leader is heartily endorsing those we need to eliminate from the party. Trump's endorsements go 100% counter to creating a constitutional party.
