Multiple law enforcement sources revealed to Breitbart Texas that part of the delay in stopping the barricaded elementary school shooter hinged on a deadly mix of the shooter’s defensive tactics and the lack of needed gear. Specifically, officers lacked the ballistic shield needed to enter the classroom with the barricaded shooter.
Attempting to breach the door without a ballistic shield would have resulted in certain death for the officers which could have provided the shooter with the officers’ weapons and ammunition. There is also the possibility that the shooter could have taken police communications gear off of the officers’ bodies, thereby giving the shooter the ability to listen to police movement and plans.
A Border Patrol source with knowledge of the methods used by the hastily formed team of law enforcement officers to engage the suspect described the difficulty faced by the officers. The source, with decades of prior experience on the Border Patrol’s elite BORTAC team, says the situation became much more difficult to resolve once the shooter barricaded himself in the classroom.
The source, not authorized to speak to the media, told Breitbart Texas a barricaded subject is the most difficult tactical situation to resolve. In this case, the source says the shooter most likely planned the attack days or weeks in advance, perhaps prior to the purchase of two AR-15 style rifles and the ammunition he carried onto the school grounds.
According to the source, officers at the scene who had been trained in advanced tactical procedures located a level IV ballistic shield. This tool allowed them to approach the shooter without immediately being killed. A United States Marshal Service employee acquired the necessary ballistic shield that ultimately allowed the quickly formed tactical team to enter the building and reach the barricaded shooter.

The Uvalde Police Department is 1.4 miles from Robb Elementary approx 3-4 minutes away.
YES - honestly, the kids and teachers would have been better protected with no police department, no "trained" officers, just men with guns, guts, and a sense of honor and duty.
Uvalde is the county seat of Uvalde county. That means the sheriff’s office is right there. A county near the border doesn’t have one ballistic shield?
I want to see a floor plan layout.
This was a nightmare scenario for every police officer involved. It’s easy to Monday morning quarterback after the fact.
> Guts trumps shields when little kids are being slaughtered. <
That’s the bottom line. Instead of results, all we are getting is lame excuses. News reports showed dozens of heavily armed cops just standing around. I guess they were waiting to beat down some poor distraught parent. Really tough guys those cops, not.
Bless the off-duty Border Patrol cop who actually did something.
By the way, were tear gas and flash grenades deployed here? If not, why not?
Yep.
His dog ate it.
The the parents had tried to defend themselves or their kids with guns they’d have been locked up for years. TX absolutely SUCKS when it comes to defense rights.
I could support a law/regulation that requires Class IV ballistic shields and plate carriers with plates be stored and properly secured/maintained at all school facilities.
Didn't need a ballistic shield to go get their own kids.
Patrol cars should be outfitted with shields, at a minimum in half the cars, that would have given them plenty of shields.
What! Are you kidding? If true, this thing just keeps looking worse and worse for the official narrative.
Not kidding. Actual independent journalist went for the 911 transcripts first thing and bam, 18 minutes missing. Saw it on Twitter. Should have got the link.
Given my school has a 190 million dollar budget, I'm sure they could build a storage facility on the school and maintain all the gear they would need to outfit police in seconds. Plus have all the entry passes/fobs, battering rams, etc.
Whoever left the door unlocked is responsible for the massacre.
I'm surprised the entire tape didn't go missing as they waited to enter, what was that, an hour or so.
you telling me this classroom had no windows? Assault through windows and door at the same time - use some basic tactics and guts - overwhelm the bastard. Once you have more than 2 armed responders, any delay in going right after the bastard is more cowardice and/or a complete failure to understand the situation.

18 minutes missing.
Cops job, the crack 9 person SWAT team’s job?
Keep the parents out of the school. Got backup from Federal Marshals.
Off duty BP agent had to go in and take him out.
Feels like an op.
Just sayin’.
He might’ve had a shield or his teammates did the shielding by the time he got in place. A still photo isn’t the complete story.
What more proof do you need that these clot shot vaxxes are there to reduce people’s IQs? In this situation you find some wood and steel to improvise a battering ram. With 5-10 men behind this battering ram the classroom door will cave in.
Then you kill the mass murdering POS. By police/law enforcement waiting around for 90 minutes, some of the children bled out that could have been saved. I am going to guess 5 of them.
