Multiple law enforcement sources revealed to Breitbart Texas that part of the delay in stopping the barricaded elementary school shooter hinged on a deadly mix of the shooter’s defensive tactics and the lack of needed gear. Specifically, officers lacked the ballistic shield needed to enter the classroom with the barricaded shooter.
Attempting to breach the door without a ballistic shield would have resulted in certain death for the officers which could have provided the shooter with the officers’ weapons and ammunition. There is also the possibility that the shooter could have taken police communications gear off of the officers’ bodies, thereby giving the shooter the ability to listen to police movement and plans.
A Border Patrol source with knowledge of the methods used by the hastily formed team of law enforcement officers to engage the suspect described the difficulty faced by the officers. The source, with decades of prior experience on the Border Patrol’s elite BORTAC team, says the situation became much more difficult to resolve once the shooter barricaded himself in the classroom.
The source, not authorized to speak to the media, told Breitbart Texas a barricaded subject is the most difficult tactical situation to resolve. In this case, the source says the shooter most likely planned the attack days or weeks in advance, perhaps prior to the purchase of two AR-15 style rifles and the ammunition he carried onto the school grounds.
According to the source, officers at the scene who had been trained in advanced tactical procedures located a level IV ballistic shield. This tool allowed them to approach the shooter without immediately being killed. A United States Marshal Service employee acquired the necessary ballistic shield that ultimately allowed the quickly formed tactical team to enter the building and reach the barricaded shooter.

This “ballistic shield” excuse reinforces the notion that paid LEOs on scene cared more about their own lives than saving children. Heroes are more often needed than available.
Repeat after me: Crazy people..crazy people...the problem is CRAZY PEOPLE.
A problem for the new government, presuming we get one soon, is what is it that was allowed to exist by the old government that is making so many people crazy.
But for now, let’s stick with the main thought.
Better shields for the police, better training, metal detectors, self-locking doors, making advance PLANS for when someone is slaughtering 8 year olds in your local public school, as if OMG that is inevitable - all that is rearranging the deck chairs on the USS Titanic.
The regime is collapsing before our eyes. Something else will take its place. Time to think about what.
How did he know which door would be unlocked? Or were all of the doors unlocked?
It was the HMS Titanic.
L
Some of that is still unconfirmed, but it’s at bare minimum remains a giant clusterfrack.
Thank you for some balance.
I'm confident that somewhere in America, fire/emt and police personnel enter situations where instant death is a real possibility...on a routine basis.
God forbid someone actually asks that question and the police are prepared to answer it. his has been an information clusterpuck, just as the response was.
Frank Hamer didn’t need a shield.
He would either be pointing the gun at the door or at the 10-year-olds. He could not do both at once. Plus, how much you wanna bet that classroom had windows?
That mama didn’t need anything more forceful than her heart to save her kids.
Bunch of pansies. Fine, Uvalde can do anything to any other agency but they can sure tar and feather their local LE.
I wonder if that is who keeps using the word "barricaded" in regards to a door that was merely shut and locked?
They absolutely could have stacked and made entry. All of them were wearing armor too. Square up and go.
The carnage had already been done and over with, he was isolated with nowhere to go.
Because glass windows are so hard to break or shoot through.
But that's why there are small-unit tactics. They are not rocket science, nor magic. Thousands of Handfuls of US men have worked out impromptu manuvers under fire on the battlefield for hundreds of years.
What we are seeing is typical government bureaucratic stasis. "Get home safe!"
Some of them are alcoholics and drug abusers, too.
I have heard this was a hostage situation.
The school layout apparently has a long hall going to the classroom.
Don’t know for certain.
It is a single story school with several separate buildings. As if they couldn’t have evacuated the other buildings and blown his head off through a ground floor window instead of allowing him to continue shooting babies.
the bp’s “shield” was his baseball cap, with a grazed bullet trail.
That does not jive with the testimony of one little boy who said the policeman told the kids to yell for help and when one little girl did the shooter killed her.
I would like to know more details. In my neck of the woods you can’t even get into a public school without being buzzed in by front office personnel.
