Mixed feelings abound after an older Florida woman said she shot and killed a man who had broken into her home.
Virginia Morrison, 69, told outlets she was protecting herself and her partner after a stranger—later identified as Ezequiel Rosario-Torres, 38—entered her home on Sunday, said nothing, and refused to leave, even in the face of separate warning shots.
“I have feelings. I have God in my life,” she told WOFL. “That’s my main thing: Wondering if God’s going to forgive me for taking a life. It bothers me.”
But at least one member of Rosario-Torres’ family suggested he wanted this to happen.
“Yes, he was very suicidal and this week especially he was acting very strange and out of character,” his daughter, who did not want to be identified, told WKMG.
“I heard the door handle kind of rattle, and then the door opened, and the guy stepped in my house,” Morrison told WESH. “I didn’t know who he was. I looked at him and I said, ‘Who are you and what do you want?'”
He said nothing, she told the outlet.

Crazy story. This putz came in these old people's house and just walked up on the lady, including chasing her into the back yard, until she shot him.
If you want to kill yourself, don't drag other people into it. Just do it.

A few weeks ago, my mom's overnight housekeeper was up late and saw a man trying to pry open the kitchen window with a large garden implement from her garage. The perp saw the housekeeper inside looking at him, but just nodded and kept prying. The police scared him off. If I had been there, we would have been spending the next day hosing the blood off the deck.

Agreed. Warning shots are a bad idea. Either shoot to kill or let it be.
Looooooong time ago after I got in a fight in a bar in San Francisco, the dude followed me outside. You know what he said?... “Kill me. Kill me”. Wish I had been thinking more clearly. I would’ve given him directions to the Golden Gate Bridge.

They may go somewhere you dont want them to and get you in trouble.
Second if you can fire a warning shot it will be argued you were not in imminent danger. A problem for you, regardless of disparity of force arguments.

You know, I always think of that. Into the air or into the ground? Either could result in unfortunate karma. It would depend on how close the person was. If he was 10-20 feet away I would yell at him, then maybe fire into the air. But it really depends on the circumstances.
In that part of the world I wouldn’t even be tempted because AIDS.
Or in this case, "some people want killing". If he wanted to harm them, they would probably be dead. She tried to shoo him away with a broom, and by the sound of it he had plenty of time to act before she was armed. He basically forced the poor woman to shoot him. Sad that he had to involve others in his suicide.

warning shots are a horrible idea. do not fire warning shots. it means you didn’t need to fire the gun.
i don’t understand why people do not get this. its a lethal weapon not a warning weapon. you either need to use it or you don’t.
