Henderson man threatened with HOA fines for anti-Biden sticker

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - A Henderson resident believes his freedom of speech is being violated over a bumper sticker on his truck.

A bumper sticker that reads “Let’s Go Brandon” is causing all the trouble for the man who is being told by his homeowner’s association that displaying the sticker on his truck is considered an offensive trader activity.

Chris lives in the Central Park Estates neighborhood located on the cross streets of Bermuda and Pebble. You can often see his red truck parked in his driveway usually with flags attached to it, but not anymore.

“They said I had to take it down because it was a sign or a billboard,” said Chris.

The HOA allows residents to have one political sign in the front yard during voting time. But since Chris left the flag on his truck after voting time was over, he was asked to take them down or else the HOA’s lawyer was going to take him to court.

“It makes me feel upset,’ said Chris. “I am a veteran. I did take an oath to this country. I believe freedom of speech should be everywhere.”

Chris resorted to implementing a bumper sticker that says “Let’s Go Brandon” on his truck, but was told this also isn’t allowed. The phrase has become an anti-Joe Biden phrase used by conservatives.

Why anyone buys homes in HOA’s is beyond me...

“HOA = freedom of association”

LOL. Not if you’re a Republican.

HOAs are the original Nazi organizations.

I have to travel often through a heavily democrat area, close to 100% according to voting records. I see not one pro-Pedo and whore sign but I do see about one Trump sign per block.

81 million my foot.

“I have a friend who is a lawyer...”

How can you be friends with a lawyer? Especially with one as twisted as that. A good little nazi he is. I suppose he flunked the part covering the Constitution in liar school.

I have a friend who is a lawyer that specializes in condo/HOA association law. He tells me these things come up all the time with the HOA boards he represents. He always advises them to enforce these laws mercilessly -- even for seemingly harmless signs and displays.

Your friend is evil.

But lawyers really have no respect for the actual law so you probably knew that already.

“He always advises them to enforce these laws mercilessly — even for seemingly harmless signs and displays.”

Thus insuring a continued revenue stream from the HOAs. Duh.

I'm a person of the male persuasion. And I did forget to add a "Thank you!".

I always appreciate learning something new, especially when it corrects something, in the paraphrased words of Ronaldus Mangnus, 'I know that just plain isn't so.'

Why don't you do some research on the U.S. Constitution and tell me what it says about the application of the Bill of Rights to organizations established as voluntary associations.

You have no idea what you're talking about. I retained this lawyer to secure a substantial settlement against an HOA board.

I met this lawyer through an HOA that has never collected a penny in fines from its members in over ten years.

Try again, dude.

Same here but it’s Let’s Go Brandon and pretty good sized flag flies 24-7 ☺️

Yeah, well, that area of Henderson has had its fair share of HOA disasters. There was an investigation into several of them about 10-15 years ago because of their STASI tactics with the residents AND their visitors.

With Henderson being such a sewer for the rigid Leftists, nothing surprises me about the place anymore.

Thanks for the ping! ;o]

I hate all HOAs. They are all dictators.

I wish state laws could invalidate all HOAs.

Irrelevant. The HOA is paying the lawyer regardless of the outcome.

I lived in a free neighborhood. One day some lady from the neighborhood called. She wanted to start an HOA and said someone told her that I’d be a good candidate for the board.

She got very angry when I told her I wasn’t remotely interested.

In my rural county we have:

1. Detached homes with an HOA -- mostly newer subdivisions
2. Detached homes with no HOA -- mainly older suburbs or rural areas

Although the subdivisions aren't newer. The HOA needs to be highly regulated and Virginia law has gotten better about that, giving more power to the owners.
