If the American Empire Falls, Will the Republic Rise?

Victor Davis Hanson, eminent classicist, provides this warning to Americans in the lead of his most recent article at Epoch Times, updated May 16:

Americans are now entering uncharted, revolutionary territory. They may witness things over the next five months that once would have seemed unimaginable.

It may prove in this momentous decade that the American Empire falls. But take heart, because the fall of the empire — aren't all empires finally a bundle of conceits destined to collapse? — may lead to the revival of the American Republic.

The visions of empire and republic are as starkly different as George Washington and the founders were from Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. Much of what constitutes the "American Empire" is a product of progressive doctrine. It was about domestic imperialism perhaps far more than American global dominance. Restoring the republic should be welcomed by citizens dedicated to our nation's founding principles.

We're reaching a culmination. The left's decades-long march through America's institutions succeeded. They control government, corporations, health care, sciences, media, arts and entertainment, education, nonprofits, sports...right down to the Boy and Girl Scouts. They seek to consolidate their control in a handful of larger institutions (government and corporations, principally). An American "reset" is a precursor to a global reset, per the lunatic vision of Klaus Schwab and his acolytes.

(As an aside, pray tell, what is it with Germany that it periodically spawns apocalyptic and/or messianic figures like Marx, Nietzsche, Hitler, and now this dangerous utopian, Klaus Schwab?)

If you're feeling surrounded, don't. There are many more of us than them. The unbelievable major serial failures of the Biden administration (who bats zero?) are waking up a broader slice of the public — waking them up through mounting costs (inflation and energy),

I keep hoping for The Second Republic of the United States. I think it will have fewer than 50 states.

RE: If the American Empire Falls, Will the Republic Rise?

Anarchy in the short term followed by totalitarianism.
Then possibly a new Republic, in 500-1000 years.

It’s nice to have a positive spin on our current, very dour, situation. Unfortunately, as the saying goes, “If you’re going through Hell, keep on moving...” I don’t think we’re there yet, and when we are, I fear we may see things we never considered.

So, you're saying that you think that a couple of states will be consolidated (North Dakota + South Dakota -> "Dakota," etc.)?

That is what you meant, isn't it?

Regards,

THAT is what we have now. I find it fascinating that mainstream thought is taking on the conspiracy theories of Q as the best explanation of what is happening.

I live in MA. My state is one of the states that should be tossed out of the union. MA isn’t part of America. Doesn’t want to be.

I blame Teddy Roosevelt, William Randolf Hearst, and Joseph Pulitzer for America's 20th Century wars, from the Phillipines in 1900, clear through to the Gulf War and beyond.

Hearst and Pulitzer had rival newspapers competing against each other. They got into a contest over who could get America into a war with Spain. An explosion on the Maine (later discovered to have been and accident caused by internal explosions on the ship) was the pretext used to declare war. They, and Teddy Roosevelt, wanted America to get into the colonial Empire game just like the Europeans. That led us to occupy the Phillipines and other Pacific Islands. That led us to the conflicts that led us to World War I.

America had the potential to be the Switzerland of the world. Being the neutral peacemaker. Colonizing? We have hundreds of millions of acres in Alaska, where hardy people could've built a life for themselves by farming and mining natural resources.

Instead, we've been dragged into every war by a small cabal of elites who now are poised to turn America into a 3rd World shithole.

I have been thinking along similar lines for a few days now with the news gas may hit $10.00 a gallon. The left has been positioning themselves towards a great reset across the globe but I don’t think they are thinking clearly with regards to the probable consequences. People are going to be very, very angry, particularly in America, and those who this anger will be directed towards will be the progressive elitists who engineered this mess.

As we enter into a recession characterized by high inflation academia will be hit very, very hard and most if not all the progressive radicals will need to jettisoned if those institutions hope to survive. They will lose the ability to produce a new generation of radicals. Progressive politicians will will find themselves out of office as the public seeks more traditional solutions to the rebuilding of the economy.

I believe VDH is right in that this will lead to the people turning towards American traditions/the Republic. America remains rich in natural resources, a modern infrastructure and an educated (relatively) population and while we will find ourselves in bad shape the rest of the world will be in even worse shape. Our recovery will be faster than many may expect. It will be painful but we will still be lucky to be Americans.

THAT is what we have now. I find it fascinating that mainstream thought is taking on the conspiracy theories of Q as the best explanation of what is happening.
We saw a powerful movement of the Republic most recently in the Civil Rights movement of the late 50s and early 60s before it was coopted by Johnson and the party of corruption.
My commitment to that movement and the Vietnam War protest that followed defined my 20’s. The American Communist party manipulated both of these profoundly American Republic movements, turning them into the opposite of how they began.
That same political corruption has persisted and grown to this day.
Now we face out of control totalitarianism that is making its final stand to obliterate this nation and its Constitution.
Will we succumb to the evil of criminal politicians and their government and industrial compatriots?
Or will the American spirit rise again to throw off the shackles of corrupt men and their evil ways?

Personally, I think the end game for our empire will be when China launches a salvo of hypersonics and takes out a carrier trying to defend Taiwan. While we could have made some effort trying to develop defenses against those missiles, the Neocons were too busy spending our defense money on their pet projects, which include Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, and now Ukraine.

Oh well, some of us warned them...

Well written. I think (and hope) you are right about the final outcome.

Authoritarianism and Itotalitarianism are honey that attracts broken, angry, manipulative, controlling personalities.

When I started high school, I was amazed to see friends from elementary school, who previously had been content to be one of the group, jump at the chance to be in student government etc.. Whether urged on by family or by conceit, the desire to run things starts early in some humans. The Kennedys Clintons, Pelosi, Romney are just a few examples. This type is, after all, smarter than most of us. Just ask them and their inner circles...

Given the prospective timeline of such events, we'd be looking at today's high school students as the ones in charge.

That demographic is so brainwashed, indoctrinated, corrupted and "woke", there's no way they'd recover a "Republic" out of the ashes.

Barring some Intervention by God, this country is finished and it's arrogant for us to assume He can't live without us.

We were an ostensibly Christian nation but abandoned that to serve Moloch/Humanism.

He'll simply raise up another nation to do His will and sweep us into the dustbin of history.

I agree...American will never accept $10 a gallon gas and inflated food prices because they know (as the Euros do) that it’s all manipulated and contrived. Question is...what will they do about it? Blue state stupid is epidemic as evidenced by people thinking men can have babies because they said it on the View or whatever!
