Gas prices went up again on Wednesday, setting a new record for the 12th straight day even after resident Joe Biden’s unprecedented release from the nation’s emergency petroleum reserves began on Sunday.
According to AAA’s gas tracker, the nationwide average for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $4.56, surpassing the prior day’s high when prices passed $4.50. Diesel fuel, used for tankers, trains, trucks, farming machinery, and other industrial equipment, also reached a new high at $5.577 per gallon on Wednesday. The daily consecutive records come weeks ahead of Memorial Day, when prices traditionally reach their spring peak.
In April, Biden sought to artificially suppress soaring gas prices by announcing the release of 1 million barrels of oil per day from the emergency stockpile for six months ahead of the November midterms. The release, however, which went into effect this week, has coincided with record-level prices each day so far, even as the president hopes to save precious political capital ahead of an election cycle that is historically hostile to the party in the White House.
The rising prices at the pump will quickly translate into even higher prices across the economy, exacerbating the painful consequences of inflation by raising the cost of manufacturing and transportation. According to the Department of Labor, inflation remains at its highest year-over-year rise in four decades, climbing 8.3 percent in April compared to the same time last year. Energy prices are up 30 percent from last year.
Despite the economic turbulence brought by high power prices, Biden has continued to suppress domestic oil and gas production when the nation needs it most. Last week, CBS News revealed that the administration quietly canceled projects across the country from Alaska to the Gulf of Mexico.
Meanwhile, the administration’s resumption of oil and gas leases on federal lands is only the product of a court ruling that terminated Biden’s indefinite suspension. In response, the White House is allowing only 20 percent of what was initially nominated to be developed for drilling operations, complemented by a 50 percent increase in royalties on what’s extracted.
Where do these clowns think the electricity comes from to power those electric cars? The experience in TX a year ago and right now shows that wind and solar cannot provide reliable energy. Imagine what would happen if the CA law of no fossil fuel cars after 2030 went into effect. What would happen when 37+ million people plug in their electric cars for an overnight charge. Since wind is variable and the sun often sets in the West, where is the evening supply of energy going to come from? Batteries? Really? There isn’t enough rare earth materials in the US to power a string of Christmas lights.
These Green people will likely win out but shutting down every business in the US and make it impossible to drive anywhere. Of course, since there are no goods and services, everyone dies, but at least they got their way with zero emissions (ignore the decomposing bodies they killed along the way).
I expect that the Democrats in Congress will haul the executives of major oil companies in for hearings. And they will cross examine these executives as to why gas prices are so high.
$3.88/gal today at Costco in the Midwest.
“$6.57”
Ouch!
Where do these clowns think the electricity comes from to power those electric cars?
They think electricity comes from an outlet in the wall. They don’t think about how that electricity has be generated in a power plant somewhere.
It went up 20 cents overnight where I live. $6.33 for regular.
I can’t believe that I just paid $5.17/gal in Pinellas county.
When I started driving, gas was 33¢ per gal.

And just imagine all of those copiers and printers taking to the streets at the same time.
Soon the headline will change from:
setting a new record for the 12th straight day TO
setting a new record for the 12th straight month
Makes me wonder when we're going to start doing that here ...
Yep me too...and we are right back at it...
I'd be happy if we could manage to expel them from office.
There is no alternative transportation in vast swaths of this country, including in most of our major cities. In the greater Los Angeles area, for example, sure...you can catch a bus at point A, but usually have to transfer to bus B and even C before hiking to your final destination. Or you might be relatively close enough to one of the train lines to move you at least somewhat close to your destination, but you would need to catch a bus or shuttle or hike to actually get there.
Good luck trying to find alternative transportation as you go further out from central cities.
He RAISED lease prices, too
In other words, mom just put away your diapers and dressed you in big boy underpants?
CONTEXT. What area(s)?
It explains the legalization of marijuana, especially in blue states. The powers to be want a sedated populace.
