Not quite sure where you stand on this issue - it's unclear whether you are praising Australia's draconian measures or not - but my health is exclusively my business, and I don't want an intrusive, busy-body Big Govt. dictating to me how to manage my health.

crap. Australia is an island. America is not. Australia was able to lock down until vaccines came. America could not. But Australia as it turns out, locked down too hard. They did it after vaccines. They vaccinated too many. Especially the younger people who did not need the vaccine.
The deaths in Australia went up millions while far fewer, maybe only 5000 were attributed to COVID. Those extra deaths were a result of lock downs and extra vaccines.
Nobody did a perfect job. But being an island was an asset. And buying vaccines from America for old people was very helpful. The CDC and WHO did horrible jobs. Our hospitals did not do well. Our media did the worst of all.They stopped good ideas from making it to the public.

The rates of deaths and cases are going up steeply in Australia now, from almost zero until the beginning of this year, whereas the rest of the works is at the lowest levels ever.

The case rate is higher than the U.S. but the U.S. death rate is about ten times higher.

And, Australia is have a huge wave, the most deaths they had in the last two years. Their death rate is increasing daily.

The “1 million deaths” figure is a scare statistic that needs to be audited by somebody who is not associated with Democrat politics.
Has anyone noticed the countries that fared the best are those that have been universally inoculated with ivermectin - horse meds - for decades? A billion doses in third world countries in 20 years immunized vast populations.
I give you Haiti, home of the worse public health in this hemisphere and the worse overcrowding with no attempt to control anything, 72 deaths.
