Seniors and other people who rely on Social Security benefits could next year see their biggest cost-of-living adjustment since 1981, with an advocacy group for older Americans forecasting an 8.6% hike.
The typical monthly Social Security check is about $1,658, which means beneficiaries could see an increase of $142.60 per month in early 2023, bringing the average check to about $1,800, according to a new forecast from the Senior Citizens League.

Musical chairs, some won’t get a seat.
Where is this money coming from???
Who cares???
This is the looting and plundering phase of the end of an empire. Take what you can get. That’s what our representatives are doing.
Yeah they do but they won’t use them. It used to be you knew what the increase was going to be mid November. This last year it was almost the end of December before we got the notice.
Seriously, they don’t care, they will just change the formula for “inflation” and it will somehow end to being around 5%
Ok, then what else is the purpose? The goodness of their hearts? It’s all vote buying.
This is another phony election promise to get the Pedophiles and Trannies over the midterm election hump. What kind of “expert” predicts raises in Social Security. A Sucker Expert?
Then thay’d jack up Medicare deduction so you wind up with less.
It’s the law, you dumbass.
I am old and disabled, and on social security.
Do you think I am on the Democrat Plantation?
Come on over here and say that.
“Then they’d jack up Medicare deduction so you wind up with less.”
THAT is the way of life in today’s USA.
Yes, I think anyone in that situation would be the democrat’s prime support.
SS/SSDI people are one of the dem’s primary voter block. It’s not up to debate, it just is how it is.
My last COLA was mostly eaten up by the medicare increase. $9 was all that was left.
Just yesterday, the were telling us that we would lose SS. Wish they would make up their minds.
Thats right. We paid our dues, played the game. Went to work for 50 odd years. They can give trillions to foreigners so I have no problem with a measily COLA increase.
And Medicare will jump 50.00
Respectfully, most SS recipients I know will cast their first vote for Democrats after they die.
“...anyone in that situation would be the democrat’s prime support...”

Especially the line: “I hope I die before I get old”
Costs jump 32% (pulled out of u kno wher), but 8.6% is not
going to cover it by a long shot.
Gasoline alone is going to drive up costs on many things by
a third.
And your Medicare cost will go up the same %
Big deal. Real inflation is a lot higher than 8.6%.
If CBS News is talking it up, you know this automatic COLA be touted as a Biden “accomplishment”.
