Back during the lockdown a lot of churches were giving away food.

Much of it came from stuff that would normally have gone to school lunch programs and restaurants. You could drive your car to the drop off point and they would come out and give you a box of food stuffs.

It was a drive through food pantry with no check for need or anything else.

It always seemed kind of scummy to me to take advantage unless you were actually in need but lots of people were of the opinion that "if we don't someone else will and we will at least eat it".

Food Pantries have been a thing for poor people for decades. Some also get EBT but some go to food pantries in lieu of EBT.

It was amusing to see the long line of expensive SUVs waiting to get the freebies.
