yes, I was thinking something similar, that Hong Kong was leased territory, and historically had been part of China, and didn’t have a history of being an independent country.

“yes, I was thinking something similar, that Hong Kong was leased territory, and historically had been part of China, and didn’t have a history of being an independent country”

And, before the PRC put its foot down the Hong Kong leaders tried to play the ‘Let’s make everybody happy!” They didn’t stand up for law and order, they didn’t take clear economic positions. They actually INVITED PRC interference. They ignored issues except to occasionally throw money at them.

Hong Kong could have been, should have been a beacon of freedom to China. Instead a bunch UK “Comfort Women” like Anson (Fangs On) Chau, and Regina (Broom Head) Yip, “Yes Men” boobs like Donald Tsang, and entitled, incompetent elitists like Carrie Lam and the building code violating idiot that she replaced went along to get along.

Hong Kong had its chance It blew it.
The UK had the chance to make Hong Kong independent in the 1960s. They blew it.

China could have abided by the Basic Law, it didn’t.

There is blame to go around

Doesn’t matter if historically was part of x y or z.

Parts of the USA were historically part of france or the uk or Spain. Don’t give them rights.

And texas was independent.
