Percy Jackson author Rick Riordan put 'racist' trolls on blast in a scathing statement following the online harassment of 12-year-old Leah Jeffries, a black actress, who was recently cast in the TV adaptation of the fantasy series.
In a post shared to his website Tuesday, Riordan slammed a subset of fans upset that the role of Annabeth, which is 'described as white in the books,' will be played by a young Black girl. 'Friends, that is racism,' he wrote.

More woke Disney nonsense.
A cuck white and negro fatigue article 3,482,223…
How boring. It’s not “racism.” It’s wanting the tv program to be like the book.
Or a transgender in the lead role for "The Michelle Obama Story"...oh, wait...
My first impulse is to agree with you, but honestly, after thinking about it, I don’t think it really matters. Movies made in India put Indians in the roles, same with Korea etc.
If she was truly the best actor they interviewed for the part, then I wish her luck.
I have a big problem with affirmative action, but no issue with choose the best regardless of race.
Perhaps the idiot author should have wrote her in as a black girl then.
Maybe they’ll bring back “Blacula” and “The Wiz”!!
When was the last time you saw stunt casting done with talent in mind...?
🙂
A new production of ‘Roots’ with an all white cast playing Haley’s relatives would be interesting .
Skin color doesn’t matter, except when it does.
One side in the discussion gets to make all the rules. And the other side is always on the wrong side of those rules.
I bet Jared Leto could play a great Malcolm X
Meanwhile, consider the OUTRAGE over a white person being cast in a role that is considered “black”, like Othello or Cleopatra (never mind that Cleopatra was of Macedonian descent, she was born in African and therefore black)
I’m a Black Caesar fan myself…
How quickly they ditch the cultural appropriation screed when the situation is reversed.
In yhe Outlander books, the character of Jamie and Claire's daughter, Brianna, is described as a 6 foot size 16.
If you've seen the actress playing her you know they shrank the character.
Bigly.
Size 16s need not apply...?
I’m weary-beyond-words, of all this crap, but it’s a l-o-n-g way from over.
I honestly have really enjoyed Bridgerton, which has a diverse case with even the queen of England played by a black woman. But she is AMAZING in the role, and I can see why she got it.
You suck.
