For years, women across the country have been warning about the end of abortion, and what it would mean for everyday women. With each new step this country took away from reproductive freedom — the election of President Trump; the confirmation of Justices Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett to the Supreme Court; the upholding of Texas’ clearly unconstitutional SB8 — the threats got more dire and urgent. So some of us chanted, we marched, we protested. We got loud.
Then, last week a leaked draft opinion from Justice Samuel Alito revealed that the Supreme Court is planning to overrule Roe v Wade and Planned Parenthood v Casey – effectively overturning the federal right to an abortion.
Here’s the problem: What’s about to happen in this country isn’t just an assault on the vocal minority of women who’ve been taking to the streets, to state capitals, to the Capitol to demand that our voices are heard, that our rights aren’t trampled on, that our bodies stay ours.
It’s an assault on the silent majority of this country, too. On the women — and men — who haven’t chanted, marched, or protested. Who haven’t taken to the streets or shown up to halls of power. Who still, nonetheless, want abortion to be safe, accessible, and legal.
It’s a whopping 80% of all Americans, a supermajority. Some of us identify as pro-choice; others don’t. Some of us are Democrats; some are Republicans; and others still are apolitical. Some of us get lifesaving health care from Planned Parenthood; others have protested outside its doors. Some of us believe abortion is fundamental, an extension of our right to privacy and bodily autonomy.

That is your opinion.
Oh, puleeze!
If it is a right, and if it is necessary; then pass a da**d law.
This is just like a burglar wheedling his way into your house to steal. If yah want the da**d TV that much, make me an offer. Otherwise, I’m gonna shoot you.
Can’t get a law passed now? Gee. Wonder Why? Mebbe because you’ve shown your real colors by passing state laws that OK murdering a safely born child just ‘cause Mommy doesn’t want the burden and the state is too cowardly/cheap to fund adoptions.
Quick, grab a shovel and head to the garden. Your roses are gonna love this.
How much BS can be squeezed into 1 story???
As I grow older and more experienced in life, I better understand the story of Adam, Eve and the Garden of Eden. Whether literal fact or ancient allegory

I’m the same way about original sin. I started my adulthood not believing in original sin. Why would something someone else did wrong mean that I’m naturally evil? Enough time observing people, including me, has taught me that people are born selfish. I think the garden of Eden story is allegory, but it doesn’t matter.
Original sin is real, and we can’t receive what has been offered to us without rejecting our natural instincts.
Sure does. Bishop Fulton Sheen expanded on this- the power women have to persuade culture. Negatively as well as positively.
Good, glad States are protecting innocent bystanders in the event of crimes.
Rachel Carmona is a pot-stirring idiot and clearly has no idea what the leaked opinion really states.
What they hate and what they WON’T tell you is that anything anywhere near approaching that ridiculous number is
VERY LARGELY from their infested 20-30 counties/cities of this country - where all the immigrants are, where all the leftists are, where all the crook politicians are. It’s why they hate the Electoral College with an unbridled passion.
They cannot stand that the founders of this country thought of it as a UNION of separate STATES with their own legislative bodies, largely with common goals of national defense, freedom and opportunity but with allowances made for the morals, sentiments, values and traditions based on regional dictates (STATES!).
Leave this up to them and it’s nothing but a collection of cloistered, intellectually-inbred inhabitants and the illegals and immigrants they need for sheer mob-rule numbers. Government by Twitter, Facebook and Tik Tok.... Leave this up to them and we’ll end up with WWIII for any social media and MIC scheme to tug at heart strings they choose to distract attention away from their completely failed national governance.
I worked with a girl that had had an abortion. Her husband was a recovered heroin addict. She was scarred by it.
She was a really hard worker with a get it done attitude and a no-nonsense logical mind. She was the first to crawl under raised floors and lace in telephone cables with no thought of how dirty it was.
But there was a sadness about her all the time.
You haven’t been following the news in that case, since the new laws passed ban all abortion, even in cases of rape, incest, or the life of the mother.
...................................................
Really? In which States have such laws been enacted?
Is there ever any mention of hurt regarding the baby being torn apart in abortion.
Seeing women cheering for abortions and rioting if killing their baby is forbidden.
I lose faith in today’s humanity.
Yes.. We adopted a baby girl 2 weeks old.. Today she is an adult conservative maga delight
Stop yourself. You’re actually claiming conservatives don’t get equal time on FNC??
I’m saying that this essay was nonsensical and I’d like to see such an essay from the other side. I’m miffed at fox for other reasons namely that Tucker has a particular view on abortion that he expects others to share and he shuts down people who don’t share it
"Marching" is not protected by the Constitution and should be made illegal.
>>>The men have no voice but they are devastated…and complicit.
People kid themselves about the facts. I predict a low turnout for any pro choice activity
Some women who have had abortions will be triggered. The men will be silent as usual.<<<
You are correct, but with a small caveat. I was a young man in the 1970s, when we were promised personal freedom for the simple act of amoral licentiousness. It was a lifestyle promoted by my school, my family, my society, and even some of the religious institutions I dabbled in. Two of my children were killed by abortion, a decision in which I had no say whatsoever. The fact that I was willing, and in fact eager, to be the father of those children did not matter at all. Of course, the situation was clouded by immaturity, depravity, and the attitude of the times in the place where I was at, which is a fancy way of saying that, indeed, you are correct about the damage caused by our embrace of abortion.
I see the echo of those children whenever I look at my son. It doesn’t help that my birthday falls on the day that Roe was decided, which means that annually I get to reflect on my failings and grief.
But here’s the caveat. I’m not silent about this. I tell people about my regrets, the time wasted, the emotions spent on empty relationships, if we can even call those fleeting moments relationships. My son knows that somewhere with God there were two of his brothers or sisters, and this knowledge has caused him to be circumspect and wise beyond his years. I’m a teacher in a high school, and even though health education isn’t my subject, when I am able, I remind students, especially the young women, that all children deserve a stable, complete family, and they should be married before having children. I have been married to my wife for 27 years in a loving, companionate relationship, and hold that up as a goal for the students in the class. Whenever someone tells me that one of the girls who graduated has fallen pregnant, I ask them about the husband, and if that answer isn’t forthcoming, I remind them about the importance of faithful marriage. I have tenure. File a complaint.
One of the unspoken ugly truths about freely available abortion is that it allows men to postpone growing up. That first pregnancy, when I was 18 years old, was washed away in a Planned Parenthood clinic, and I just continued my wasted life for years before understanding the damage it caused me, let alone the girl I was with and the child we killed. The other abortion happened off stage, with a comment months later about the act. It still causes me shame to consider it. Sadly, a lot of men never get to the shame and grief part, just continuing the endless party, like Hunter Biden without the money or connections.
It’s a fallen world. I’m ashamed of the part I played in it.
“…ugly truths about freely available abortion is that it allows men to postpone growing up.”
The main truth about it culturally, not spirit, is that it is all about enabling males to be 17 year olds for as long as they want. The girls assist to serve that purpose.
Thanks for sharing.
Me? I bought what the nuns told me. And the other dignified women I grew up around. I was the first one to get a cigarette lit in the Catholic school girls room and I went on adventures with the boys. But I was t about to live for their stupid ideas.
I tell people Rachel’s Vineyard is a very good program. They recognize the impact this has on guys.
