VLADIMIR PUTIN has suffered another bitter humiliation this week after a retired colonel admitted on live state TV that Russia is struggling to replenish its monumental losses in Ukraine and that even a mass mobilisation would not help.
A retired Russian colonel, Mikhail Khodaryonok, has told Russian state TV viewers that the country's military cannot compete with Ukraine's equipment from NATO. In a stark admission on the tightly-controlled propaganda channel Russia-1, Mr Khodaryonok dismantled the idea that a mass mobilisation call-up would bolster Russia's war efforts in Ukraine. This comes amid growing speculation that President Vladimir Putin will announce a mobilisation of the country's reservists tomorrow during the Victory Day parade in Red Square.
In a clip viewed more than a million times online, the senior military expert admitted that Russia is struggling to replenish its colossal losses in Ukraine.
He added that Russia does not have the "pilots or the planes" to send into the battlefield.
Mr Khodaryonok said: "Let's imagine the drumroll, the sound of fanfare, and the mobilisation is declared.

Thanks for your comments. The Putin cult has consistently claimed the anti Putin FRs want to send US troops to Ukraine. But like all the rest of their garbage claim this false too.
in all of this ...Putin, Biden’s bruthuh from anuthuh muthuh?
Sounds like Putin may want to pull the trigger and declare victory for the little piece of eastern and southern Ukraine real estate he has acquired to save some face and grab Zelensky’s offer not to join NATO and bring this thing to a close.
Yep,
When Russia pulls the plug on this fiasco, I have a lot of crow just waiting to be served....
In other news, a Russian Colonel is reported missing and suspected of fleeing to Ukraine.
I'm a little less sanguine about that than you are.
Photos of the Donbas fighting areas I've seen are beginning to look like WWI. The Ukrainians have had eight years to dig in multiple lines of defense in deep bunkers, just like the Germans in WWI. The photos I saw yesterday show some of these defenses in a sea of shell craters: could have been taken over France in 1916.
Neither side seems to be capable of proper combined arms use of artillery, although the Ukrainians seem to be getting better at it and the counter battery capability they've now received with longer range artillery than the Russians have will prove an important advantage.
The Russians are touting having taken Popasnaya yesterday, but I think this is the third time in the past couple of weeks. So fighting is see-sawing just like in WWI.
Losses on both sides must be horrendous, but especially for the Russians who are attacking more.
In the meantime the Ukrainians seem to be driving the Russians out of Kharkov oblast and trying to cross the Severiskiyy Donets river north of Izyum. If they can do that, it will threaten Russia's Izyum advance (although the latter seems stalled). The Russians however have supposedly crossed the same river north of Severodonetsk, which if true, is worrisome for the Ukrainians.
Looks like Russia will try to hold the Luhansk, Donetsk and Kherson oblasts. Whether they can is open to doubt, but the fighting will be bloody. The Ukrainians should also have two armored brigades equipped with upgraded Polish equipment somewhere. If so, it looks like they are waiting for the Russians to exhaust themselves or using them as a strategic reserve.
Man that Russian nailed it. Said it would not be a fast victory, envisioned a sort of lend lease, that there may be western volunteers, and the west would not put boots on the ground.
He nailed it! Then of course you have Putin stooges like McGregor who have fallen flat on their face.
Next year’s victory parade in Red Square will showcase the triumphant Ukrainian tractor divisions.
Putin’s Pizdobal Platoon has quite the fanciful imagination, don’t they?
They are going to be more competent defensively simply because lower quality troops generally can do a better job with simple defensive tasks than offensive tasks. But that means a long war of attrition without hope of any real victory, and that is demoralizing as hell when you're not defending your own country.
This whole colossally stupid error by Putin is what happens when everyone around you is scared to tell you unpleasant truths.
ROTFL
Xi is in precisely the same leaky boat...he just hasn't invaded Taiwan yet. According to all the analyses I have read, though, Russia's failure to perform and the surprisingly united economic sanctions imposed by the rest of the world seem to be causing him to have second thoughts on that...
So true. Ex officers are seldom right.
We had plenty of negative retired military when Trump was President.
This is incorrect information as it is incomplete.
Some Russian artillery ranges out to 37 miles. Some of their artillery has a 13 mile range. There are several types in between, with about a 22 mile range.
The extended range of the M777 towed howitzer is 22 miles. With the Excaliber rounds, they have accuracy to about 4 meters.
Artillery has traditionally been a Russian strength.
Sounds like Putin getting the kiss off from the mother land.
The range of artillery depends a lot on the ammunition.
Its normal to quote the maximum possible range with things like rocket assisted projectiles, but it opens the question of the availability of this more complex ammo. This stuff is mainly intended for counterbattery work.
Russia’s Avangard hypersonic glide vehicle is so third world a single launch can eliminate the entire US carrier fleet wherever it is in the world and it’s completely invulnerable to any present or future countermeasures. A little respect and humility goes a long way to promote world peace and avoid a radioactive hellscape to please the likes of Schwab, Soros and the Rothschilds.
The effective range of the 155 is about 30 miles with rocket assist, about 13 miles for the 122.
A real question is if they have any "smart" shells. They have developed and used some laser guided shells, but those require a laser designation.
I do not know if they have anything like the Excalibur shells, which use a combination of GPS and inertial guidance.
They also have very heavy artillery in the 240mm guns, and multiple launch rocket systems. Those are in much smaller numbers.
Ivan is an idiot who can only be brutal.
He was never known to be a logistical genius.
