One of Vladimir Putin's closest cronies claims Russia could destroy all NATO countries 'in half a hour'.
Dmitry Rogozin, head of the Kremlin's space agency, Roscosmos, also admitted the strongman's aim is to defeat the 'enemy' West and expunge Ukraine from the map.
'NATO is waging a war against us,' said the former deputy premier of the 30-state Western military alliance.
'They didn't announce it, but that doesn't change anything. Now it's obvious to everyone.' He said: 'We are liberating Ukraine from NATO occupation and pushing the worst enemy away from our western borders.'

A very wise family friend laughed at that.
We were trained that London would be the main target and that we would be in a position to help.
My wise friend argued that if Russia attacked the UK it would not be pin point strikes, but total obliteration of our island home. They needed nothing that could endure beyond the 100 years or so till the nuclear cloud had evaporated.

Back in ‘62 my ship was tasked with evacuating military dependents and civvy contractors from the base at GTMO. Scary times...I wondered if there would be a home to go back to.

Yeah, scary times is right. Where did you bring them to? Florida? I had read that some evacuees were brought to the Carolinas. But, really, if the ball went up we were all within range unless we lived in the extreme Pacific Northwest or Hawaii. Alaska would have been hit from sites in the USSR.

That one will take out my son, daughter-in-law and five year old grand son. Until recently I thought the nuke danger to them was from an Iranian nuke in the basement of the big mosque a couple of blocks from their home.
If I recall correctly we took them to San Juan Puerto Rico. We put in there for a couple of days. After the blockade ended we returned there for several weeks and had lots of liberty.
i think they are going to be intentionally put into a situation they feel that is their only existential choice.

Their weapons and vehicles are proving to be largely crap, their combined arms ability looks like something from a “Three Stooges’’ film , their conscript army, as far as tactical ability couldn't take on the residents of a nursing home. Putin really screwed the pooch on this.
