It takes two sides to have a civilized debate.

The left’s rage will never end. Even if they win and eliminate the opposition, they will create an opposition from some part of the winners.

They produce a never ending cycle of rage. Given infinite lifetimes, everyone would be killed except one.

The difference between the wildest right wing crazies and the left is that the right wing crazies believe in an open debate on the issues.

It is the left that wants to censor the opposition.

Yes, We Can Bring Back Civil Debate in Polarized Times

Not when there is absolutely zero interest in doing so on either side of the political spectrum.

Polarized times didn’t kill civilized debate. Lack of consequences killed civilized debate, and THAT made the time polarized. Until we figure out how to punch people who talk #$%^ on the internet civilized debate is dead.

It takes two sides to have a civilized debate.

And we have zero sides interested in having one.

Liberals can’t debate. They’re incapable of reasoning. Every disputed conversation revolves into frothing hysteria.

Chances of that are slim to invisible.
My bet's on the latter.

I disagree. The left has changed ‘debate’ to argument and ‘opinion’ to ‘judgement’. Hate crimes anyone? Good luck...

“It should not be 1619 versus 1776, and it should not be school boards versus parents or Fox versus CNN.”

And I imagine this Pollyanna also thinks pigs SHOULD be allowed to fly.

Not so sure about that. I know from personal experience. Let’s see. I may not agree
With George soros on 99.99% of things. But the .01 that I do, that being the ukraine thing, causes heads to explode here. One can never have a civil debate with those types.

“The best way to destroy an enemy is to make him a friend,” said Lincoln.”

So much pablum.

And that usually happens by beating your enemy into unconditional submission.

That’s how Japan and Germany became our friends.

Rhetorical: We can’t reason with the insanity of the left. I tried it just today. Within two debate points the guy was giving into menopausal grade hysterics and swearing. My point on personal responsibility was too much for him. They clean up, walk upright and can speak complete sentences, but these are animals, pure and simple. You don’t “reason” with them.

So it’s this then?

“Violence is the table that our agreement to participate in a society rests upon. Underneath all civilization is violence.

Periodically, you must remind them: Violence is the table.”

Certainly one way to put it. Consequence don’t have to be violent, but the quick ones usually are. I remember once we had to do some stupid thing at work over the weekend, so we all got their bright an early to get it done and get back to our Saturday. Except one guy, he showed up late, he did his Saturday first and when we gave him the stink eye for holding us all up he gave some lame excuse. When he walked away one of our coworkers said “he didn’t get beat up enough as a kid.” That is often how we learn.
