Liberal activists aim to flip at least one justice before Supreme Court rules on abortion case

The leaked draft of a Supreme Court opinion that would overturn the constitutional right to abortion gave liberal activists a rare chance to change the minds of the high court’s most conservative justices before a final opinion is handed down.

They quickly seized the opportunity and targeted the justices on a personal level, publicizing the address of five justices who would overturn the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling that legalized abortion nationwide.

Supreme Court experts say the protests are unlikely to alter the final ruling, which is expected by June 27. And at least one of the targets — Justice Clarence Thomas — declared he won’t be “bullied” by the left.

Liberal activists, however, won’t be dissuaded and plan to use the next seven weeks to pummel the justices with pro-abortion outrage.

Flipping the vote of just one justice would keep abortion rights intact.

Activists took the initial protests that began on the steps of the Supreme Court and expanded them to cities across the country. Protests and marches are planned for the next two weeks and beyond, organizers told The Washington Times.

They envision a barrage of “relentless and sustained” protests on a massive scale, which they believe might persuade at least one of the five conservative Justice, who reportedly voted in secret to overturn the law, to reverse the looming decision.

“This is what we need to do to create such an upsurge, such an outpouring of fury, that they are compelled to respond to our demands,” abortion rights organizer Sunsara Taylor said in an interview.

Ms. Taylor is helping coordinate “a week of resistance” with the group Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights and more protests are planned throughout the month.

The group coordinated protests at Catholic churches on Sunday and will join a rally and march...

The justices are fairly fixed on this and have been passing their drafts around for a while.

Of course...the plan from the very start was 1) flip enough votes to change the ruling and 2) to motivate Maoists who are typically too lazy to vote in non Presidential years.

And as Peppermint Patty gets ready to exit the scene, she said the administration has no position on the issue of protests at the homes of Supreme Court justices.

The administration cannot take a public stand against protests at personal residences. Isn’t that interesting.

The only one they might flip is Roberts. But I think they pissed him off with the leak, and just for that reason alone he may be more stubborn than he otherwise might be.

Personal attacks on SC Justices.

Planning.

Organizers.

I am getting a big fat whiff of R.I.C.O.

The "planners and organizers" better hope none of the "targeted" Justices gets so much as a scratch.

It seems to me that the one most likely to flip is Roberts. He’s seeing how unlawful the Leftists really are.

“Sunsara Taylor is a political activist affiliated with the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA (RCP), and groups associated with it, such as Refuse Fascism and World Can’t Wait. She is one of the organization’s most prominent spokespersons, believing that “humanity needs revolution guided by Bob Avakian’s new synthesis of communism.”

Roberts said the leak does not match the current stance. That tells me RVW is safe. Roberts could have shut this BS down by releasing it now but nooo.

“Flipping the vote of just one justice would keep abortion rights intact.”

And that’s the problem with our current system of government right there in a nutshell. Changing the vote of one unelected person out of nine can save or condemn millions of lives. We were designed to be a representative democracy. Not a nation tied to the decisions of an appointed elite.

The Supreme Court’s ability to declare things unconstitutional and apparently write new rules with the force of law they simply gave themselves in 1803. If you read Article III you’ll find nothing in there about overturning state or federal laws.

But regardless, here we are. Seven justices were convinced that abortion was a right conferred by the Constitution. They found it by looking in the ‘penumbra’ of the implied right to privacy. It only took five justices to redefine marriage after thousands of years of people thinking that it involved relationships exclusively between men and women. And, of course, we’ll soon enjoy the rulings of a justice who finds defining ‘woman’ beyond her level of knowledge.

Gee wouldn’t any change from what was leaked be caused by undue influence upon the judge due to coercion of the crowd therefore Invalidating the ruling?

Before he didn't want to "rock the boat" but now with the Left openly threatening the Supreme Court, he'll say "screw it" and he'll join Alito so it'll be 6-3 vote, instead of 5-4 as it was supposed to be originally.
