Gov. Ron DeSantis said Friday that he will sign a bill allowing constitutional carry in Florida before he leaves the governor’s office.
Right now, people need concealed weapons permits to walk around with a gun in Florida. Constitutional carry means that permit requirement goes away.

desantis for florida governor 2022...
florida first!...
Start now, Mr. DeSantis - get ‘er done.
No wonder so many of my conservative neighbors in California are heading to Florida - and Texas.
I’m always surprised that FL doesn’t already have it. Of course I’m in MA so I’m no one to talk.
How will this be done? Would the Florida House and Senate have to pass a bill and then DeSantis sign it? Or would it be an EO-type situation? The article doesn’t say, its’ just full of nonsense quotes from people who don’t know what they are talking about.
Love my governor!
The Florida legislature has to pass the bill. We don’t have a system of government where DeSantis can just decree the new law to be in effect.
Civics 101.

desantis for president 2028...
and a good morning to you too...
The FL legislature is rock solid behind our Governor right now. Where have you been? I realize you and the other Texans are jealous of our freedoms here, but maybe you should pay more attention to the legislation that has been passed and signed here in the last few years.
BTW - DeSantis played (and starred) in the LLWS. Abbott probably played soccer (not that there’s anything wrong with that).
Yes, I think the legislature would pass the bill, and DeSantis would sign it.
It is getting to the point where DeSantis could beat Trump in 2024 in the primary.
Bravo Zulu governor!

I’m well aware how laws are passed. My point was the article failed to mention anything about the Florida Legislature having to pass the bill first. It made it sound like DeSantis was talking about unilaterally passing this.
I’d prefer DeSantis, but will vote for Trump if he’s the nominee. (First time for 3 votes for someone...)
What are you rambling about? I was responding to a poster who asked whether this would need to be a bill passed by the legislature or if it would be an EO.
My post was factual. Nothing more. It certainly never inferred anything negative about Florida or DeSantis. It defies logic to read that into the post.
There are more than a few people who seem to think that laws get unilaterally enacted by the Governor.
As for Texas? Texas already has Constitutional carry, so again, not sure what you are rambling on about.
Same with open carry.
The tourism industry has fought tooth and nail against it.
After Trump's endorsement of Dr. Oz in my state of Pennsylvania, I will no longer support him in the primary.
Trump's endorsements of RINOs and poor staff picks have reached the tipping point for me.
Oh man, I LOVE my Governor!!
He is THE MAN!
He'll have my vote.
I think he'll formally announce once he's secured his gubernatorial re-election. He can't really announce before then. It would hurt his campaign for governor.
