What Would Rush Say?
American Thinker.com ^ | April 29, 2022 | M.B> Mathews

"Don't doubt me," he would say. Rush often said he could read the stitches on a fast ball. He was the most politically prescient person in public life for 33 years before he died more than a year ago. American conservatives mourned his passing because he was almost always right, 99.7% of the time according to an unbiased opinion auditing firm.

We relied on Rush for our daily briefing of leftist outrages and how to combat them. The trust Rush had built up among his audience was so massive, so devoted, and so unparalleled in modern communications, that his radio audience on any given day was upwards of 43 million in a three-hour time slot. There is no one today as accurate as Rush at a time when media accuracy is at an all-time low. We miss him.

Rush would have plenty to say today. Among those things would be warnings about what the Left is really trying to do behind our backs as well as under our noses. Thirty years ago, he warned that the Left would use global warming and climate change as vectors to control all facets of our lives including what we eat, drive, learn, read, hear, and the houses we will be permitted to live in. He was proved right; that is exactly what the Left is doing.

He warned that they would go so far off the socialist deep end that America would fracture and not be able to tolerate it without falling apart. He said:

"I actually think that we're trending toward secession. There cannot be a peaceful coexistence of two completely different theories of life, theories of government, theories of how we manage our affairs. We can't be in this dire a conflict without something giving somewhere along the way.

All I remember Rush saying is, “I’ll tell you when it’s time to panic”. It was time to panic decades ago.

Sadly, there’s no one who can fill Rush’s shoes.

I agree. The closest, in my opinion, is Andrew Wilkow.

There’s never a time for panic.

For sure. I have never listened to those two guys taking Rush’s time slot. Can’t stand them. In fact I hardly listen to talk radio anymore. It’s too depressing knowing Rush is gone. I think Larry Elder would have been the best replacement for Rush but what do I know.

FTA: “He would have warned against...the technological dominance of one company: Apple.”

Doubtful - Rush was always first to get the latest thing APL and gave away tons of gear in the show. From my perspective, he was a total fan boi when it came to Apple. I never got any sense he was concerned about their tech dominance.

It’s interesting that you say that because I was just thinking about this very subject yesterday while listening to Wilcow.
I find his canned line that is inspired by Rush off-putting because nobody’s perfect, especially this guy: “the arguments on this show cannot be broken..etc.”
Listening to it yesterday in my car really made me miss Rush because he’s the only person who could ever get away with saying anything like that. Even then, it was more tongue in cheek because he had his show audited for opinion and he was approximately 98% right..lol.
Andrew acts like he has some moral and intellectual authority but I think he would wear humility a little better.

Andrew says that to invite debate from leftist callers who typically embarrass themselves.

However, if you have ever seen Andrew debate a liberal on TV, you will be quite impressed. He is really good. You should search for some of his debates and watch them.

But very few on the left wish to debate anymore, so he doesn't get the opportunity very often.

Late Fall is a dark time in Northern Minnesota. The sun is barely up for 8 hours a day, and it is very dark for the other 16, with the sun so low on the horizon. I grew up there, just below the 48th parallel. Only a tiny percentage of the US population live that far north. When President Kennedy was assassinated, I was in 11th grade, just starting to become aware of political leanings. I remember wandering around in the darkness and light snowfall with other kids let out of school talking about it in that late fall of 1962.

I was still a ‘paperboy’, delivering the Minneapolis Star, and that was almost the entire source of news for me. I did watch the evening news on our snowy B&W TV, coming in at 10:00 CST from the 11:00 East Coast time zone. I did occasionally read a dog-eared copy of ‘Playboy’ at a friend’s house - for the news, of course. What are now called “conspiracy theories” had a hard time penetrating these meager sources of ‘news’.

For a long time, the Kennedy story dominated the news. I remember watching film of the shooting of the assassin, Oswald by Jack Ruby, and then the anticipation of finding the story behind all of the intrigue, when he would finally go on trial for it. When Ruby died of cancer, almost all hope of finding the facts ended.

Some conspiracy theories did, then, penetrate into my sources of the ‘news’ behind his death.

One such theory was that some government agency - likely the CIA - had the ability to inoculate cancer into Ruby and might have done so. Another was that he was actually still alive but hidden out of the news. These stories eventually died away.

So, what does this have to do with this story about Rush? I’m sure he’s not hidden away somewhere, but it’s certainly quite odd that he got such a quick and lethal form of lung cancer. What, indeed, would Rush say?

I've been listening to them.... I find them to be OK. They are a bit overly focused in Covid related issues, which...is getting old. But, they do a good job of exposing leftist hypocrisy and of informing about important legislative and political happenings.

What I like best is, they keep a touch of humor in nearly every area of discussion. Rush was a master of that. Although, Rush used it less in the later years.

Give them a listen. You might be surprised.

I was thinking earlier this week about what Rush would say about the Elon Musk purchase of Twitter. Rush referred to Twitter as a sewer and had the bots attack him. Rush even did research on the bots that he shared.

For me, Chris Plante is the closest I can get to Rush.

secession

Seriously, what would be the lines of division?
Our differences are not specifically of a geographic nature.

Chris Plante is the only radio talk show host who does not leave me more depressed than before listening. How he gets away with his frank though humorous talk is a mystery to me. I am glad he has not been shut down.

Yes the problem is we have islands of blue surrounded by seas of red.

Not an easy division to make, for sure.
