Why can’t Florida find a Senate candidate that doesn’t want to give amnesty to illegal aliens and a permanent majority to Democrats?

DeSantis got his brash style from Trump.

Rubio is the establishment candidate. If someone won the primary they would actively work to undercut them. Remember what they did to Col. West.

My lord, but you’re an idiot. Mild criticism of Trump means full throated support for Biden?

But you are an idiot. I was using sarcasm. It was to highlight extremism — abandoning Trump over someone he endorses. Maybe you haven’t yet, but plenty on this site say they have.

An idiot and an illiterate apparently, if that’s your idea of what sarcasm means.

“Trump was a great president, but he is also human and pointing out weaknesses is important, not hating. Hero worshipping Trump regardless of his errors does not help him or the country.”

1. “Trump is human” — Wow, do have any other truths to unveil of such magnitude.

2. “Hero worship” — Did you request at least your favorite flavor of Kool Aid when you lapped that one up from the democrats? It is okay for you to like DeSantis, but then you turn around and smear Trump supporters with “hero-worship.”

I did not say that is what sarcasm means, I merely pointed out the sarcastic technique I used in that post. Don’t try to deep think, you can’t.

I wish Trump would support DeSantis in 2024 for the Presidency, attend rallys with him, fundraise for him, really get behind DeSantis.

But, with Trump’s ego, not gonna happen.
...
Trump’s major flaw is a toxic inability to judge character. His favoring of Fauci over Redfield, of Kari Lake for Gov in Az and recent endorsement of Dr. Oz are mind boggling.

Trump’s size, age, and personality fills a room when he enters. When in Europe, the leaders follow Trump around. You can’t buy that kind of importance!

Ego... folks seem to have a problem with that..
Trump’s ego is one of a successful man... who is sure of himself and does not shy from talking about it.. if that bothers you, start counting his successes.. count his importance.. count his promises kept...count his stature and find an equal...

He has endured more than any man I know of... that is not guilty of the charges and lies made against him!!!

Trump has endured... I am waiting for him to get back in Washington .. IF there is anything left after the dems and biden/obama get their way! They have taken this country to the brink in MONTHS! and no one who could, wants to stop the destruction!

The hatred for Trump tops saving this nation!! and all of you should be taken to a lonely island!!

"Why can’t Florida find a Senate candidate that doesn’t want to give amnesty to illegal aliens and a permanent majority to Democrats?"

Good question. Probably some of the same reasons that your senators are. Tim Kaine especially is a real gem. Warner is a bit of a squish on that subject, too, so you obviously have some work to do in your own backyard. You ask this question repeatedly on Florida-based threads, not sure why, but the question is a fair one, and one I've pondered myself.

Rubio actually rates pretty highly with conservative show hosts like Dan Bongino, who put him in the top ten, although on immigration, particularly latino immigration, he's got a bad case of ethnic sympathy there. Plus business. Big business can't get enough cheap labor. That's an old problem, but still very much in force today.

Scott... not sure. He might feel the pull of big biz's gravity, or just use immigration as a sop to get some 'bipartisanship' going (yeah, fat chance, I know). I do know he was an very effective and conservative governor here in Florida before moving to the Swamp, with the exception being that knee-jerk reaction to the 2018 Parkland shooting. And he's an NRA member. Go figure.

We are working on these things -- those old influences aren't as powerful here in the Sunshine State as they used to be; we have become progressively (pun intended) more conservative, and in time that hopefully will bring our good Senators closer to our goals and values. In the meanwhile, you work on getting rid of that Tim Kaine fellow. Deal?

I have included the Florida FReeper list on this reply, so good people, if you can add to this discussion, please do. And thanks!

Trump chose to back DeSantis when he ran for Governor over the candidate the Florida Republican party had chosen... As they say, the rest is history.

Best choice? Have a Trump/DeSantis ticket. The swamp will spend the first four years going after Trump and DeSantis can help with that while leaning how to identify and deal with the thugs and liars of the deep state. When the four years are up Trump’s got Biden’s mess undone and DeSantis hits the ground running...

Believe me I know how bad Kaine and Warner are.
Until this last election I thought there was no hope for Virginia.

Making sure our people are powerless but ‘pure’ is so stupid it’s hard for me to believe you don’t ‘get it’.

I’m disappointed in Rubio, to say the least. Conversations I had with him back in ‘09/‘10 always led to the question of his purported stance on amnesty. He assured me, and others, that he did not support any sort of amnesty, only to go to DC and become a member of the gang of eight. That said, on nearly every issue he’s been a fairly strong conservative.

They would bend over backwards and lie just to rationalize their hatred.

So if a FReeper supports DeDantis over President Trump - that means what?

It's quite possible that someone could support DeSantis - and not hate President Trump.

Yeah, let’s keep voting for Assistant Democrats who vote for amnesty and a permanent Democrat majority, that’ll show ‘em.
