The latest of the commission’s reports, released Monday, alleges that an intentional detonation of planted explosives caused the April 10, 2010 crash of Soviet-made Tu-154M plane that killed Kaczynski, the first lady and 94 other government and armed forces figures as well as many prominent Poles.
Their deaths were the result of an “act of unlawful interference by the Russian side,” the commission's head Antoni Macierewicz told a news conference.
"The main and indisputable proof of the interference was an explosion in the left wing ... followed by an explosion in the plane's center," said Macierewicz, who in 2015-2018 served as defense minister in Poland's right-wing government.
He denied that any mistakes were made by the Polish pilots or crew members, despite bad weather at the time of the crash. A Polish government special commission has reinforced its earlier allegations that the 2010 plane crash that killed President Lech Kaczynski and 95 others in Russia was the result of Moscow's assassination plan.

Suspicions are additionally fuelled by Russia's refusal to return the wreckage, which has complicated Poland's investigation.
Earlier, two separate reports by Polish and Russian experts on aviation incidents said the crash on approach in dense fog to the Smolensk airport, which did not have sophisticated aviation equipment, was the result of human errors made in adverse weather conditions.
They found no proof of foul play.

I tended not to believe it until Putin invaded Ukraine. Then I flipped to the side of believing that Putin did indeed have something to do with it.
Poland made it an offence to say that the Polish state was in any way involved. As it wasn’t.
There were Polish individuals involved, but the Polish state ceased to exist in 1939 when the Russians and the Germans divided Poland up and wiped it off the map.
Israel’s government was offended by that law and saw it as Holocaust denial which offended the Polish nationalists and strained relations between Poland and Israel.
IIRC it was prompted by Obama using the term ‘Polish Death Camps’.

The Katyn location is inside Russia near Smolensk. Putin was the first Russian leader to fully admit Soviet guilt and released records including Stalins signed order. He invited the Poles to the site for the 70th anniversary of the murders.
The Polish VIP transport squadron had a hard date to arrive and would have been angered had the crew diverted to a safer field in the weather. The same leader had the pilot court martialed (acquitted) two years before for not landing where the president demanded despite conditions. This was that pilots first VIP flight after that. The Air Force Chief kept intruding into the cockpit and demanded they not divert.
The airport had an old soviet instrument landing system that did not include altitude and did not mesh with modern ILS.
The aircraft in question was upgraded to western ILS standards.
They pushed forward with the landing despite terrain warnings and warnings from a plane landing just ahead of them. Upon getting the terrain warning they delayed a go around for 30 seconds. At 45 feet above the trees they initiated an unsuccessful go around. They hit the trees, a wrong severed and the plane rolled and exploded killing everyone.
Putin has the horrific movie “Katyn” broadcast nationwide followed by an accurate historian discussion afterwards, Polish investigators were fully involved as they owned the plane. Russian investigators were involved as it was a Tupolev and the crash was in Russia.
This is ultranationalist Pole conspiracy theory pushed by the dead leaders twin brother.
To say this was a murder, you need to think Russia admitting guilt for Katyn and hosting a 70th anniversary event was an elaborate set up. And that they somehow planted explosives in the Polish plane. And it was all done so Putin could insanely murder a new group of Polish leaders at the Katyn site. Then playing that brutal movie nationwide and reinforcing soviet guilt was a cover story.
But this is the mentality we are dealing with now. Anything to beat those war drums.

The WWII death of Gen. Władysław Sikorski, popular leader of Poland in exile, also remains in dispute. His plane went down shortly after takeoff from Gibraltar, killing all onboard except the Czech pilot.
The plan to lure another group of Polish leaders to the Katyn site under the guise of a commemoration in order to murder them, by planting a bomb in the plane as it flew through bad weather is simply retarded.
And it’s true that some conscripts who were first on the scene found and tried to use some credit card. They were prosecuted and sent to prison.
But this was a tragic accident being exploited by bad and ignorant people with that typical eastern Euro mentality.

I don’t know if Flight KAL OO7 was shot down in 1983 just to kill Congressman Larry McDonald who was on board, but I think that it was probable. McDonald had been organizing Eastern European dissidents and was a thorn in the side of Soviet leadership. There is no doubt that the Soviets shot down a civilian jumbo jet after observing a flashing red light on top and all 269 people were killed.

As to not returning the wreckage...if I put myself in Putin’s situation, it would only add (fake) credibility to the lies from the West. I suspect that there’s more to that story, but I haven’t followed it. Perhaps outsiders were invited to examine the wreckage or something along those lines.
