Zelenskyy warns of war in Donbas like 'the world has not seen in hundreds of years' as Russia masses troops for a new offensive on the eastern front

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday warned of fighting in Donbas that could result in the biggest war in centuries.

Speaking to the German newspaper BILD, owned by Axel Springer, Insider's parent company, Zelenskyy predicted intense fighting in the coming days.

"It could be a big war in Donbas — like the world has not seen in hundreds of years," he told BILD reporter Paul Ronzheimer.

"We will go on defending our country until the end," the Ukrainian president continued.

This chilling forecast echoes what Ukraine's foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba told NATO members on Thursday.

"The battle for Donbas will remind you of the Second World War," Kuleba said.

He used this warning to immediately call on Western allies to provide more heavy weaponry, including air defense systems, artillery, armored vehicles, and jets.

They certainly have a knack for hyperbole.

It's a shame they have opted to fight to the last man, woman, child and dog.

For whose side? Specifics matter.

This will be worse than the Battle of the Somme, Stalingrad and Hiroshima combined. We wouldn’t lie, would we?

Zelensky is confronting the possibility Ukraine will soon have no Army remaining. And what does he do? Well, he whines to the West.

And as well he should - the USA and NATO pushed Ukraine into the Russian meat-grinder.

Huh. I thought this guy was a Ukrainian.
If he is not. I forgive him. However if he does a little research he may find something disturbing concerning conflict which happened in the what is considered the Ukraine some time in the mid 1940's. Just saying.

I bet Zelenskyy had a little pup tent going on when he screeched for Big War.

Your comment raises the question of why we keep seeing reports of various thousands of Russian soldiers killed, but rarely a word about the deaths of Ukrainian soldiers, only civilians. You get the impression from news reports that 20,000 Russian soldiers have died, but only about 200 Ukrainian soldiers.

Does Zelensky still have the support of Ukrainian people or is he like Biden is here?

Looks like Ukraine is in deep doo doo in this upcoming battle in the next 2-3 days.

I’ve always been skeptical of the “drugged-out Hunter Biden forgot his lap-top” narrative.

But I don’t doubt the info is true, either.

Rather, I think it was collected and collated by anti-Biden, anti-deep-state, perhaps patriot elements in the intel community, and released via this “computer repairman.”

Now more is being released via the “un-erased hard-drive” narrative.

If Ukraine has less than 50,000 casualties or 20,000 UNIFORMED dead, I’ll eat my hat.

I would not be surprised if 20,000 were in Mariupol alone.

If it was your house that was invaded, would you fight? Oh, never mind.

Opted? They were not given the option. The Russian barbarians have descended on them to rape, plunder, murder and loot. What should the Ukrainians do in your opinion? Roll over and accept it?

My guess is probably 10,000 dead Ukrainian soldiers plus 10,000 dead civilians. It could easily be 50,000 dead civilians with the way Russians are blowing everything up.

“If it was your house that was invaded, would you fight? “

Yep.

Ukraine has a solid 30 years of being a country. Nearly 32 yrs total!

That builds a lot of nationalism.

They’re losing their very identity!

Their sacred borders are being invaded by the very people who built everything in the country.
