THE TWO BLUNDERS THAT CAUSED THE UKRAINE WAR
US - Ukraine Business Council ^ | Tunku Varadarajan

Posted on 04/09/2022 8:34:47 AM PDT by KC Burke

{SNIP} The Russian invasion of Ukraine resulted from two immense strategic blunders, Robert Service says. The first came on Nov. 10, when the U.S. and Ukraine signed a Charter on Strategic Partnership, which asserted America’s support for Kyiv’s right to pursue membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The pact made it likelier than ever that Ukraine would eventually join NATO—an intolerable prospect for Vladimir Putin. “It was the last straw,” Mr. Service says. Preparations immediately began for Russia’s so-called special military operation in Ukraine. {SNIP}

“Since Hunter has no experience in the energy industries, why was he being paid by a Ukrainian company? For what exactly was he being paid? What did Joe Biden fear being revealed with an investigation of his son by Ukrainian officials?”

After reading articles about bioweapons/research labs in Ukraine, I think I have seen the basic set up:

1. US Department of Defense funded a Ukrainian company supposedly to research control of nasty plant diseases and such (because DoD normally funds agriculture...), through a company controlled by Hunter Biden. (This is why Hunter’s laptop has DoD communications data on it). Whether any research was actually done, or if this was just a scam created by Joe remains to be discovered.

2. Just by chance, the same Ukrainian oligarch who controlled the Lab Research company also controlled Burisma.

3. Said oligarch appreciated his working relationship with the Biden Family SO MUCH that he installed Hunter as a Burisma Board Member. Despite Hunter having no qualifications, experience, or expertise, performing no work, and never going to Ukraine, the oligarch was happy to pay Hunter vast sums for doing nothing.

4. Conclusion: Absent an alternative explanation, Hunter’s Burisma Board gig was the conduit for paying kickbacks to the Bidens for the DoD funding.

Funny how our brilliant Congressional and DoJ investigators can’t connect dots. D’oh!

The second strategic error was Mr. Putin’s underestimation of his rivals. ...In Mr. Putin’s cocksure reckoning, the invasion was going to be “a pushover—not just in regard to Ukraine, but in regard to the West.” He’d spent four years “running rings around Donald Trump, ”

Oh really?

Actually there was very good reason for JFK to be uptight about Soviet nukes in Cuba. Much like there was very good reason for the USSR to uptight about US nukes in Turkey.

There’s a big difference between nukes and alliance. Also a big difference between colonialism and alliance. Problem with the Putin doctrine is its backed by an army that appears to suck ass. I’ll say it again, cause people just aren’t paying attention: if Putin didn’t want the Ukraine to have allies in the west he should have made Russia worth a shit as an ally.

They agreed to borders when the Soviet Union broke up. The time to object was then. Anyone not happy with being identified as Ukrainians should have left then not hang around and stab your fellow citizens in the back. I feel the same way about the sleazy sneaky people here in the US. Don’t like it, move.

So, yeah, it is that easy.

Insightful post.

Speaks to why this article was an interesting find for me and why I posted it for discussion.

We have a India/British AEP member basing an entire op-ed for the Wall Street Journal around what supposedly is his condensation of a Hoover Institute Russian historian’s take on Putin/Ukraine. AND it is being re-printed in a US - Ukraine cooperative council newsletter site.

First of all the insight on anything Russian from Service cannot be ignored or pooh-poohed despite any aversion to a second hand disparagement of Trump. Pipes and Service are the truth speakers over the last 45 years about the Soviets and Russians.

Secondly, this dangling of NATO to the very peoples we knew Russia was fearful of involvement is a recurring theme. It culminated under Slow-Joe but its been allowed to evolve for 25 years and it must be addressed as a mistake by the West in general.

We have in recent days Arch-Bishop Carlo Maria Viganò citing the same linch-pin.

As I have said before, Poster Oblomov said it best:
The Ukraine war is a proxy war between two factions of the left. The old anti-authoritarian left has been marginalized, and they aren’t one of the warring factions. It’s between the nationalist neo-Stalinist left and transnational corporatist progressivism.

The most useful takeaway for me in the article is how Service believes that instead of Putin longing for Soviet communist glory, Putin hated the communist detour of what would have been a greater imperial Russia in Putin’s alternate history.

Of course you are quoting the article, not me, but I address the issue why I ignored that in my post #65.

Oh, so the West WANTED this war. Starting to make more sense now.

"Biden screwed this up by sending Kamala over instead of the secretary of state. She spouts off that Ukraine should just join NATO. then we have the training of Nazi’s by the US. Then Slow Joe spouts off that Putin has to be removed, genius. So Biden can declare the removal of a foreign countries leader. How is Russia or Europe any of our business?"

What is the percentage of Nazis among the total Ukrainian population, Putlim? 100%? 99.5%? Give us your best estimate lofl!

Yeah, they earned the thermobarics just for the right to receive a ballot in 2024 with one name on it: Putin.

Your poojab know-nothing hero, "India/British AEP" gooner was so hard-up for cash in 2010 when Obama cratered the global economy that he signed up with Newsweak! At the behest of Tina Brown! Straight from the WSJ:

Tina Brown Taps Talent for Newsweek

"Tina Brown is keeping her plans for Newsweek close to the vest, for now. But the magazine queen is starting to put her stamp on its staff.

Tuesday, Brown named Tunku Varadarajan, a writer-at-large for the Daily Beast and a veteran of Forbes, the Wall Street Journal and the Times of London, to be editor of its international editions."

He didn't even last 3 years! LOFL! Citing he wanted to write a book (never happened)!

For what purpose? If this happens the conflict becomes completely uncontrolled. A really unconstrained global war could happen

Just noting how the Nazis there have been ‘rehabilitated’ to be the good guys.

And by the way, once Mariupol is fully liberated in the next few days, the number of Nazis in Ukraine will be next to nothing.

Hey. We post and discuss news, commentary and media articles. You want a censorship echo chamber, this ain’t it. I had this WSJ op-Ed sent to me, I read it and thought it would prompt discussion.

I was correct.

I’ve been to Ukraine 18 times and liken it to crossing a stream on slippery moss-covered rocks. You have to be real careful and don’t know which are trustworthy.

One time if I hadn’t been inclined to have a cup of coffee first, I could have been right where Russian agents assassinated an anti-Russian MP. We passed kitty-corner to where the body lay.

This war would never have happened if Trump was President.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The bogus stolen election of 2020 is one of the most egregious events of US history.*

It not only changed the basic tenants of the US as a democracy, but it also changed the role of the US COnstitution as the nations founding document.

The pre-eminent question is whether this whole fiasco will lead to a US Civil War from within, or its destruction by external enemies, China, Russia, North Korea and Iran.Or both. In any case, war is coming to the United States from within and without. Patriots! Conduct yourselves accordingly.

“Putin despises democracy,” Mr. Service says. “He believes in the right of the leadership to impose the authority of the state on society.”Executive orders? In the Russian president’s view, this is good for citizens because it brings stability and predictability into their lives. He also believes in the importance of the secret police as an adjunct of government.FBI,CIA? In this, Mr. Service points out, many of his methods are “reminiscent of the Soviet period,” even if his ideology isn’t.
Emphasis mine

Sounds like a description of Ol' Joe Biden

Not a word about Biden lifting sanctions on Nordstream II, which the president of Ukraine himself said was loading the gun Putin held at Ukraine’s head.
