Satellite photographs released on Monday appear to rebut Russian assertions that dead bodies in civilian clothing found in Bucha had appeared there after Russian forces retreated from the devastated Ukrainian town.
Mid-March satellite imagery of a Bucha street appears to show several bodies of civilians lying dead in or just off the roadway where Ukrainian officials recently said they found multiple corpses after Russian troops withdrew.
"High-resolution Maxar satellite imagery collected over Bucha, Ukraine (northwest of Kyiv) verifies and corroborates recent social media videos and photos that reveal bodies lying in the streets and left out in the open for weeks," Maxar Technologies spokesman Stephen Wood said Monday in a statement.
The New York Times published an analysis of close-ups of Bucha's Yablonska street, and concluded — after comparing it with video footage from April 1 and 2 of dead bodies along the street — that many had been there since at least three weeks ago, when Russian forces were in control of the town.
AFP photographers entered Bucha, northwest of Kyiv, on Saturday and directly confirmed the presence of some 20 bodies — all in civilian clothing, some with their hands bound — in scenes that have sparked global revulsion, and accusations of war crimes.
Russia's Defense Ministry has denied responsibility, saying that all its units "withdrew completely from Bucha as early as March 30," while the Kremlin has dismissed the graphic images emerging from the town as "fakes" concocted by Ukraine.
That claim was repeated at the United Nations on Monday, where Moscow's envoy Vassily Nebenzia reiterated at a press conference the corpses pictured in Bucha were not there before Russian troops left the city.
"Suddenly they appear on the streets lying on the road, one by one, left and right, some of them are moving, some of them showing the signs of life," he said, claiming the scenes were "arranged by the Ukrainian information, information warfare machine."
But Maxar satellite images dated March 19 and March 21 show that multiple bodies were on Bucha's Yablonska street at that time.
And according to the Times analysis, Maxar images show dark objects of similar size to human bodies appearing on the street between March 9 and 11.
Many of the bodies pictured in the satellite images appeared in the precise position on the ground as seen in video footage from the same street filmed by a Ukrainian local council member, and in photographs by international news outlets.
In a second side-by-side comparison, the Times studied a video posted on Instagram of a body in the street in front of two cars. A satellite image from March 21 shows the corpse and the vehicles in the same location.
Considering you are proposing a massive conspiracy involving multiple international press outlets, NGOs like Human Rights Watch, the Ukrainian military, why don't YOU prove the conspiracy? Show us how the photos are CGI?
You are asking me to "provide" evidence but you're invalidating in advance all the evidence I can give because it's not from a shitty blogger.
Although I will add that many of these videos come from Ukrainian soldiers entering the city for the first time, not the BBC, or Moscow Times, or anyone else. They're just using the videos afterwards.
No conspiracy in the crackpot sense you mean it, rather an embrace of the media, a media that before this war was viewed even by neocons like yourself with suspicion. Now go, bring me back verifiable news of Zelenskkk and his NATO aggression.
Can we be sure Ukraine isn’t using video game footage again?
Explain why it took 4 days after the Russians left before any bodies were reported.
After Azov and the Ukies came in to deal with Russian sympathizers.
REEEEE!!! There are no bodies! Satellites are biased and controlled by the nwo! REEEEEE!!!!
You believe the satellite footage is what it is claimed to be by the liars who have been caught using video game footage, combat footage from Syria, and many other fakes.
Why would you do that?
The Russians want the UN to investigate Bucha. Why would they ask this? Why are Russians committing war crimes when they’ve taken efforts to avoid civilian casualties, even when tactically disadvantageous? Why would Russians dig mass graves when they have mobile crematoriums?
Meanwhile, Zelenski emptied his prisons and handed rifles to every male in Ukraine. You’ve got untrained civilian militias all across the country. And you have Ukrainians who have been killing their fellow countrymen for the past eight years.
This doesn’t pass the smell test.
I’ve got no dog in this war, in fact I think the war should be stopped immediately. I do recall a few weeks or so ago hearing about the brave Ukrainians taking up arms against Russian soldiers. Perhaps this dead Ukrainian took up arms and was shooting at Russian soldiers...maybe they shot back. Throw a bike and a pooch in front of the body and take a picture of a dead civilian. Seriously, who knows how this picture happened.
I’ve got an article bookmarked on another laptop that shows pictures and video from when covid started, with “dead” people bundled up on sides of streets in China that were to be picked up. Turns out they were live people sleeping on the sidewalks. Other people were bundled up somewhere else looking sick...turns out they were earthquake survivors. Another picture was of a guy laying in the street bleeding as if dying from covid. Actually his motorbike was cropped out of the picture as he had a motorbike accident. The amount of fake media we were fed to scare us into covid submission was outrageous. Anyhow, I’d be cautious in these times about posting pictures and assuming to know what really happened. Nothing personal and not into arguing...just my thoughts.
1. They FRAME Russia for ‘colluding’ with Trump.
2. They FRAME Russia for the Wikileaks emails.
3. They FRAME Russia for Hunter’s Laptop.
But THIS TIME, they’re telling the truth about what happened there? Right.
It didn't. First video of bodies came out April 1.
You're also conveniently ignoring the eyewitness accounts of surviving villagers, who all say the Russians took the men and shot them and wouldn't let relatives bury them.
This would again run counter to Russian claims of such evidence not appearing until April 3 (WARNING: some of the footage in the following links is graphic in nature). A video shared on Telegram at 6:18pm BST (8:18pm in Ukraine) and a video shared on Twitter at 9:02pm BST on April 1 show dead bodies lying on Yablunska Street in Bucha. Other videos from the same street published between April 1 and April 2 can be found here

Grief-stricken Ukrainian mother weeps over grave she dug for son killed by Russians and a wife finds her husband's mutilated body in a basement as harrowing details of atrocities emerge in Bucha

Surviving villagers are eyewitnesses to the Russian soldiers taking men and executing them.
Because the UN will investigate no matter what and the war will probably be over by the time the UN issues a final report.
Did you support the Ukrainian Army, including the Azov Battalion, shelling daily the predominantly Russian-speaking Donbas region of Ukraine for the last 8 years which killed approximately 14,000 civilians? Or don’t they matter to you because they’re Russian?
Yablonska Street is a major artery of Bucha. It's not some little-used side street.
On April 2, a day before Ukrainian journalists came to Bucha to film the Espreso.TV footage, the National Police of Ukraine published a video of the mop up operation in Bucha.
Their video was published after the mop-up - a drive-down of major streets and a check for mines and armed resistance. Why would the Ukrainean Police not include these very public corpses on their mop-up video?
-------------
These Satellite photos putatively taken on March 19th only came out after the fact. Is there evidence showing that they were published anywhere before March 30th?
They could have been taken on the 3rd April, and the dates changed. They could have been taken on the 19th and then marked up.
Do we have any concrete evidence to the contrary?
Sorry, but in my opinion this is a Fake Photo. There is no way seven bodies are neatly lined up on the street, especially with two directly across from each other and the other five in somewhat of a line. At the sound of gun fire, people naturally scatter!
Even if there were seven snipers and these seven people were all in the same place at the exact same time and ALL SEVEN were shot at the same time, okay just maybe.......
And they were not shot one at a time because people aren’t stupid enough to keep going into a “shooting gallery” to be killed. Someone mentioned game video. Think about it, the targets keep coming with total disregard for their safety. Real people aren’t that STUPID.
It wasn't one shooting incident. Russian soldiers during the occupation kept taking villagers and shooting them. That's why some(probably later) victims had their hands tied. French and AP reporters saw the bodies. Regards
Do we have any videos of these corpses from the period March 19th to the 30th?
Sure all the forensic evidence is a lie and all the surviving Ukrainian villagers are lying. Okay
The timeline is the test. Russians left Jan 30. News crews film the street April 3. The bodies are not 3+ days old.
The Dead Rise In Bucha
[Proof of fake Bucha false-flag atrocity propaganda video]
In the below five-second clip taken from Ukrainian TV, which is captioned with “Civilians shot dead in Bucha: lawyers already collecting proof for international courts”, corpses are conveniently laid out on the road, in full view of liberating soldiers and camera crews trucking down the road. The longer original footage has many corpses all over the road as if they were all taking a walk (no one drives in this town) or crossing the street and then suddenly all dropped dead.
The corpse on the right, moves its hand in fear of it being run over, although of course the truck is far enough away. Another corpse is passed and can then be seen in the truck’s right-side rear-view mirror, literally turning its entire body and then sitting up, no longer resting its torso on the ground. It’s unmistakable and so creepy. Of course, the streets are deserted and no one comes out to great the liberators, because every single living soul here was out in the street and suddenly got shot by Russians.

That image doesn’t show a single body, not one. Everything ‘red blocked’ could easily be debris. Full stop. Your propaganda is weak.
