Japan's economy minister has reiterated that the country will not withdraw from oil and natural gas projects in Russia's Far East. Hagiuda Koichi says they are essential to securing energy supplies.
He told reporters on Friday "Japan has stakes in both projects and has secured long-term supplies. The projects provide our country with energy at below-market prices, and soaring energy costs are making the projects more important."
Hagiuda also said that Japan imports about 90 percent of its crude oil from the Middle East, and that the Sakhalin-1 project is an important energy source outside that region.
He adds that the Sakhalin-2 project accounts for about 9 percent of his country's imports of liquefied natural gas.
The minister says that Japan will not back out of another LNG development project in the Russian Arctic.
Prime Minister Kishida Fumio says his government will refuse Russian President Vladimir Putin's demand that energy exports be paid for in rubles.
Kishida says he will continue cooperating closely with other G7 members.
Way to go, Brandon! You imbecilic old fraud.
How do you define SANITY?
See... if the US had kept up its oil production like it had under Trump we could’ve unified Europe and Japan on OUR energy supplies rather than chasing them into the arms of mother Russia.
But oddly... helping Russia here seems to be what Biden wants...
Great Reset... button? Hillary?
Another FU to Biden.

10% payout for the big guy to keep the Russian oil pumping - the Biden family must have quite the large offshore bank account. Maybe the tax man will get them in the end.
What about the Kurils ? I guess Russia can keep them for now.
Even if we couldn’t supply most of Japan’s oil and gas, we COULD drive prices down. Note the bit about Japan getting below market cost energy from Russia.
That’s just fine: If market cost is back down where it should be with the US pushing the market, Russia can’t make enough on it’s sales to fund Putin’s military AND the endemic corruption in Russia. The country would collapse B4 the oligarchs give up their slice.
Decreasing dependence on oil from the Middle East is a good thing.
