At one recent rally, some of Trump's supporters said Putin should have free rein, while others advocated sending in U.S. troops.

...COMMERCE, Ga. — As former President Donald Trump tries to refine his message about Russia's war against Ukraine, his base is splintered over the question of America's engagement in Eastern Europe.

"It's not our business," Peggy Bright, 57, said shortly before Trump spoke to an unusually restless and muted crowd here Saturday night...

...Alina Roberts, a Trump voter who was born in Latvia and lives in Atlanta, said at Saturday's rally that Putin cannot be stopped without direct U.S. intervention....

I don’t think we’re getting our money’s worth out of the UN.

Indeed, there are strong feelings here and pro-Zelensky/Soros/WEF people here (Zel/Soros/WEF are all tied at the hip) and I suspect there are a few pro-Putin people here along with those using Rachel Maddow shotgun approach tactics of branding anyone as being pro-Putin for pointing out Burisma, pointing out Zelensky having to know about the bioweapons labs in Ukraine (which Bongino and others have reported on) and Zelensky doing nothing about it, pointing out Zelensky’s ties to Soros and the WEF and all of the Romney and Bolton types coming out of the woodwork on TV agitating for more and more involvement in Ukraine, and not liking it.

Again, I think we should support neither Putin nor Zelensky, not support the liberalism of Soros, not support the globalism of the WEF, realize that Putin obviously cannot roll across Europe, realize that NATO is more than capable of stopping him in NATO countries, not get drug into this to bail out Biden and allow him and the media to deflect from his failures domestically, deal with our own borders, and realize we are 30 plus trillion in debt and broke with world policeman days being over.

Regardless of the division or ‘splintering’ as the writer calls it, this debacle is all the fault of Biden (or whoever controls him) and his ‘diplomacy.’ He and his ‘US intel sources’ goaded Russia into attacking on his SOTU address timetable so he could get a bump in his numbers.

The problem with Dear Leader’s scheme is Zelensky who isn’t satisfied with one of the largest influxes of sophisticated Western weaponry but wants direct Western involvement in fighting his war - to the extent that he’s willing to risk a world war to do it.

Pretty much agreed.

However, the whole NATO bit is a farce spit out there by Putin. Ukraine was nowhere near being accepted into NATO. Too many NATO countries opposed it. Fluff “paper” agreements that carry a lot less weight than the Budapest Memorandum (which obviously wasn’t worth the paper it was written on) are just that, and Putin knows it. At best such might have gained Zelenskyy a little political traction at home.

The real threat to Putin’s Russia was Ukraine potentially becoming a successful economic member of the Western world. Plus, there are a lot of natural resources involved, and Putin wants to completely dominate the Black Sea as part of reconstructing a Russian Empire.

“not sure if Vlad can mount a long term war.”

As oil prices climb, Putin can fund his war.

I disagree that the base is ‘splintered’, rather we are capable of having different opinions about a regional conflict barely 30 days old, which might be a foreign concept to a Dem trained to parrot one-speak.

First step: ABC, CBS, NBC, BBC, CNN, MSNBC, Reuters, AP, WaPo, New York Times, and about 90% plus of the MSM participated in the great scamdemic and are untrustworthy.

Second step: Independent media outlets and/or thinkers who are anti-establishment, anti-MSM are far more trustworthy:

Jack Posobiec, Breitbart, Human Events, Tucker Carlson, Steve Bannon, Epoch Times, Paul Joseph Watson, Tim Pool, Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson, etc.

RINOs tend to gravitate to Fox News, Washington Times, NY Post, etc, as alot, but not all, of the content from them is establishment thought.

Agreed.

The facts we all agree on, I think, is that TRUMP kept Putin from invading anyone (unlike GW BUSH and B HUSSEIN OBAMA) and that TRUMP tried to help Ukraine—he did so militarily AND with an eye to trying to weed out corruption in that nation.

His work on weeding out corruption got him impeached.

Agreed. No way to be pro Putin if one goes with Trump’s current stated position on Ukraine...

I suppose one can claim they are pro-Trump but disagree on this issue. However, given the consequences of a Russian “win” here, it’s pretty much an existential issue. Best case is eventual Chinese / Russian / Iranian domination of the planet. Worst case (and multiple ways and time frames to get there) is we all glow.

“While they make up a large % of FReepers..”

There is a contingent of Putin supporters on FR, though not a large percentage of FReepers, by any means. However, the number of isolationists has grown, and they unfortunately, though maybe unintentionally, find themselves on the side of Putin in some cases.

At best, we are split into two groups.

The FOREX Market is reacting - I daresay - to the future 'Petroruble'.

Your mistake is in thinking that being anti-Zelenskyy is the same thing as being pro-Putin.

I don’t think most of Trump’s base wants to get involved in Ukraine. It’s the RINO establishment that is all for yet another war in which America has no vital national interest. Here’s a solid tip: if Soros, Schwab, the Globalists, the Neocons, the RINO establishment, the Clintons and the Bidens are all lined up on one side, you probably don’t want to be on that side.
