Washington state plans to ban most non-electric vehicles by 2030, according to a newly signed bill by Gov. Jay Inslee. The bill says that all vehicles of the model year 2030 or later that are sold, purchased, or registered in the state must be electric. “On or before December 31, 2023, the interagency electric vehicle coordinating council … shall complete a scoping plan for achieving the 2030 target,” it reads.
The bill covers a lot of transportation issues in the state and is a part of a larger $16.9 billion transportation package called “Move Ahead Washington,” which Inslee described as a way to create more efficient transportation options.
“Transportation is our state’s largest source of greenhouse gas emissions. There is no way to talk about climate change without talking about transportation,” Inslee said. “This package will move us away from the transportation system our grandparents imagined and towards the transportation system our grandchildren dream of.”
Also included in the transportation package is funding for four new hybrid-electric ferries, thousands of electric vehicle charging stations, 25 transit electrification projects across the state, as well as free fares for riders 18 and younger on public transportation systems, according to a Medium post the governor wrote on Friday.

All of our vehicles are over ten years old. I do not expect to buy a new vehicle again in my lifetime. If used vehicle prices ever come back down to earth, then a good, ten years old or older used vehicle with low mileage may be the best investment you can make.
“Transportation is our state’s largest source of greenhouse gas emissions....”
Which does absolutely nothing when it comes to 5000 trillion metric tons of atmosphere.
“I predict that most vehicles outside of Seattle will be purchased and registered in surrounding states.”
And as long as you’re not seen driving it in Washington State for more than 30 days, you’ll be fine. If that, the Karens there will RAT YOU OUT.
“The movie Interstellar also came out”
That was a great movie. I got to watch it again.
“I don’t believe it bans the sale or re-registration of used ICE vehicles but I could be wrong.”
Likely ok, as long as not imported from other states.
Keep the Trees Green pump more CO2 ,LOL
From rainbows and unicorn farts.
Since when is government supposed to prevent commerce?? Seems WA government is no longer serving the people.
This is all part of agenda 21.
They are going to make places unliveable, and also move people out by those leaving from these idiotic policies.
Good night Irene.
5.56mm
Country people will love it!
Or else.
Wont matter
Its all over in 2030 anyways, the already said so a few years ago if we didn’t do this or that
The article doesn’t say where all this electrical power will come from. That’s a big problem.
= = =
Well, there is Grand Coulee, Chief Joseph, AZWell, Priest Rapids, etc.
But they are hindering salmon from changing their gender, and must be removed.
Just stay out of Seattle and you should be fine. The rural areas in Washington state, like the rural areas in most states, are fairly conservative. The bigger issue will be when they ban gasoline sales or make it so expensive that only rich liberals can afford it.
“I don’t believe it bans the sale or re-registration of used ICE vehicles but I could be wrong.”
Headline and article is clickbait. Only affects Year Model 2030 and later.
“Just stay out of Seattle and you should be fine. The rural areas in Washington state, like the rural areas in most states, are fairly conservative.”
But it just takes one Karen...and when the ads run to activate the Karens, no one will be safe, regardless of where in the state they are.
The power won’t come from anywhere.
Deep State doesn’t want people driving.
Yes! That movie is utterly mind blowing!
These people will never stop until their Disaster Movie dream comes true
