Burying the Hunter Biden Laptop Story Was Journalistic Malpractice | Opinion
Newsweek ^ | March 25, 2022 | Jonathan Tobin

Posted on 03/25/2022 8:40:25 AM PDT by rightwingintelligentsia

It was buried in the 24th paragraph of a story that was itself buried on page 20 of a newspaper published when the public's attention was focused on Ukraine. But for those whose memories extend back to 17 months ago, the admission published in The New York Times on March 17 was political dynamite—the information on the laptop that veterans of the national security establishment claimed was Russian disinformation was, in fact, exactly what reports published in the New York Post in October 2020 said they were: evidence of the Biden family's influence peddling abroad, that the senior Biden was aware of his son's activities and might well have profited from them.

The discovery of the laptop came just weeks before the 2020 presidential election. But the reaction from most of the media—including the Times—was to ignore it.

Even worse, the Big Tech companies that control the information superhighway and social media platforms sought to prevent the dissemination of any information about the laptop and what Hunter Biden had been up to in Ukraine and China while his father was vice president. The Post's Twitter account was, for a time, shut down. Those who attempted to retweet the story were prevented from doing so. Anyone who raised the issue or complained about the refusal to cover the story were accused of spreading "disinformation."

It wasn’t malpractice. That suggests incompetence.

It was part of the sedition and insurrection going on by the liberals.

That and it is old news. It was already reported on. That was the whole reason for reporting it the way they did. They can now claim it was reported.

Malpractice my arse, this was a conspiracy among media to commit fraud and spike a legitimate story and interfere with an election.

Malpractice implies negligence. This was intentional.

The globalists needed the America First Trump removed. They were not going to allow their wholly owned MSM tool, to prevent them from achieving their objectives. They knew that the corrupt, demented Biden would do their bidding to destroy the American nation. They have been proved correct.

They had it for a year, then the repair shop owner gave it to Rudy before the Election. They alert the media when they’re raiding Roger Stone’s home.

Don't get too excited that this is in Newsweak

This is an opinion piece written by an outside person, not by the Newsweak staff.

This is CYA for Newsweak and nothing else. "See, we addressed the issue. Time to move on."

I want to see some sort of apology or investigation into the "51 Former Intelligence Officials" (or whatever the real number was) that issued their opinion piece saying the laptop story had the hallmarks of Russian Disinformation, which gave every single "News" outlet an excuse to claim the laptop story as Russian Disinformation.

Their culpability must be addressed.

Quite the opposite.

It was the very epitome of 21st century “journalism”.

I would expect an article like this to come from, say, Breitbart. But it’s coming from Newsweek. Maybe Newsweek is just taking a swipe at a competitor (the NYT). Or maybe the Deep State has decided that it’s time for Slow Joe to shuffle off to Kokomo.

She is still one of their puppets. She’s just too stupid to be fully controlled.

The Ministry of Propaganda has no ethics.

Their purpose is propaganda.

“part of the sedition and insurrection going on by the liberals.”

That must be it.
Its almost like they expected some kind of serious pushback to the take over.
Putting troops around the capital, imprisoning Jan 6 violators Soviet style to send message that decent would not be tolerated,
massive censorship at the mere suggestion that the election was stolen.
If communists forces were to actually take over the government actions like these would be expected.

If a doctor sneaks into your hotel and drugs you then throws you into a tub of ice and removes your kidney to sell on the black market it's not called malpractice.

The Huter Biden laptop story played out more like the above than 'oopsie, we missed something!'
