Ukraine humiliating Russia on battlefield, says military expert
BBC ^ | 18-MAR-2022 | James Clarke

Posted on 03/18/2022 8:55:19 AM PDT by SpeedyInTexas

Ukraine is "humiliating" Russia on the battlefield and "wiping the floor with them in terms of world opinion", says a UK military expert.

Prof Michael Clarke, former director of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) think tank, says: "The Russians are making almost every tactical mistake it is possible to make."

Speaking on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, he explains: "They [Russian troops] look like forces that were completely unprepared, that hadn’t thought through what a major campaign might look like.

"The Ukrainians are stalling the Russian advance in all areas and even operating now quite effective counter attacks. The Russians are losing a lot of equipment and troops."

Maybe the Russians could help the Irish drive the English invaders out of occupied Northern Ireland.

“not a single serious attack was repelled.”

Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Kiev, Mykolaiv, etc., etc..
They have repelled Russian attack after Russian attack, until the Russians are now apparently unable to mount attacks into those cities any more.

Mariupol looks to be the last hurrah to potentially occupy before Russia has to sue for peace, as more and more Battalion Tactical Groups edge toward combat ineffective status due to accumulating losses.

Analysts are estimating next weekend for the culminating point of the Russian invasion. Time is not on the side of those Russian kids far from the border, as the anti-armor missiles by the thousands are being sent out to hunt them, every day, and every night.

Yes,you are on the money and you need to hope I’m right that the military is soon going to step in and remove the illegal criminal cabal that has overthrown our government so Trump can be reinstated. Otherwise I don’t see him getting re-elected either. If we don’t get rid of them eventually they will kill him. I think they might have come close last week with that plane incident.

Bolisario is in their sights . Trying to get him off social media. Sound familiar? His crime? Staying neutral. NWO doesn’t like that. And neither do the supposedly conservative NwO stooges in FR

“Ukraine can lose every major battle but win if Russia runs out of its prepositioned supply’s before forcing concessions.”

Russia is already running low of some things, like Kalibr cruise missiles and Iskander Surface to Surface missiles (relatively more precise options for them to deliver 500 lb warheads from 100 or more miles away).

They are taking a whipping on combat vehicles of all types and their crews. I expect their losses to increase, as the surplus of anti-tank weapons flooding into the Country exceeds what needs to be stockpiled to defend the cities, and enables bigger and bigger (albeit asymmetrical) offensive operations against Russian forces.

Single guys in the woods where they hunt every year, now armed with a Javelin, creeping up within a kilometer of some Russian troops trying to sleep for the night, and killing one of their vehicles. A babushka sitting in her window all day, until a tracked vehicle with extra antennae comes driving by for her Javelin (sorry Colonel!). A couple of guys with Javelins and cell phones in a little Toyota sedan scooting from one firing position to another, as spotters report Russians trying to move. Complex ambushes, where convoys get hit with 10 or 20 anti-tank munitions in the first minute. The flood of such logistic supply is going to empower even recently mobilized Territorial Defense Forces to destroy whole elite units of Russian Airborne and Spetsnaz. and there are a lot more Ukrainian Territorial Defense Forces, than there are Russian Spetsnaz or VDV (Airborne).

On Wednesday, Biden released 9,000 anti-tank munitions out of inventory (drawdown), so they could cross into the Ukraine within days - 2,000 Javelins, 6,000 AT-4s and 1,000 LAWs. Just that on shipment is more than one for every Russian vehicle (of all types) that crossed the border, and that is only one of a few such shipments in recent weeks.

I’d expect to see them being put to increasing use over the next week or two.

“In case it escaped your attention the Ukraine is still legally a part of Russia. No boundaries have ever been officially drawn nor any agreement signed severing them from the Russian Federation. As far as the world court is concerned they are Russia.”

“”wiping the floor with them in terms of world opinion”

Hell, everyone with a brain already knew that.

The US sets the worldwide gold standard for information warfare reach and effectiveness.

There’s never been anything like it.

Can it change the reality on the ground? Only around the edges, and obliquely.

“Poorly trained conscripts and lousy logistics don’t bode well for any army trying to mount an invasion.”

That is exactly 1/3 of the Russian armed forces.

And that 1/3 are the boy “scouts” sent in advance to reconnoiter hot spots on the main thoroughfares. They are in the old equipment too.

The pros with the new fancy equipment are not yet engaged.

“Your mind is so screwed:)”

Sadly, not nearly so screwed as those poor Russian boys, now surrounded by millions of angry Ukrainians, armed with superior weaponry, and more of it.

It was criminal to do that to them, just so Putin could skim a few tens of billions more euros, from Ukrainian oil, gas and coal; and puff up his jaded ego some more.

Not sure if this is true, but this would be just about the worst possible outcome for a major nuclear power - to be incapable of projecting conventional power.

An attack on the Pentagon was not a justification for war against al-Quaeda based in Afghanistan? Okay. Let me guess, you probably think Pearl Harbor was no big deal. Only 2,400 or so killed way off in Hawaii. No need to declare war on Japan.

Yep, the majority of tanks destroyed by the Ukrainians are T-72s. A very few T-90s have appeared as destroyed or damaged. But they give the Ukrainians time to train, set traps, and gain experience. I believe that Putin thought the Ukrainians would not have mounted do effective of a defense and would have run out of anti tank and anti aircraft by now.

Destroying a country you want to conquer means you will have to spend billions to rebuild.

I couldn’t believe my eyes... The Russians put out this video of a helicopter being shot down and landing in a field, like it would impress us with how awesome they are. Um, no? Being shot down is BAD. Why publicize it? The Russkies are in trouble.

_____________________________________________

Not quite the same. In WWII The whole nation of Japan was effectively the enemy. By invading, occupying, and attempting to culturally transform Afghanistan, the US made enemies out of virtually the whole nation (which was not directly responsible for the attacks). Even the Taliban, who allowed al-Quaeda to train in country, never viewed “The West” as a primary enemy. They were far more concerned with Russia, Iran, and India.

Leftists are almost all on board

I drove through east Nashville today

Serious hipster and progressives part of Nashville but pretty pricey victorians and bungalow and prairie and craftsmen mostly 1880s to 1940 and new tall and skinnys and some Skandia style glass and wood stuff even mini houses for 150,000

500 sq ft

Rainbow flags

Black lives matter

Masked up even in cars or walking

And now Ukrainian flags adorn same yards and porches

Pure sheep aping what they hear trying to out virtue signal each other

It’s their cross with the purple robe on it
