Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky appears to have accepted that his country will not become a member of NATO, one of the demands made by Russia before it invaded.
According to a translation of his comments in a speech, Zelensky said that Ukraine had "realized" it would not become part of the Western military alliance.
"For years we've heard the opposite, open doors, However, it is not," he said Tuesday according to Ukrainian news outlet, Trukha.
"Our people understand this, and we are beginning to count on our own strength," he added.

Well it almost certainly means the destruction of disbandment of the Azov Battalion.

Not enough has really been written about them. But near as I can tell they are flat out Neo-Nazis. Like who has a regiment that’s straight up Nazis in their army? Apparently, Ukraine does. Supposedly they have been de-Nazified (you can tell by their logo the “Wolfsangel”), but I am not sure ANYONE buys that.
You’ve just earned two more worthless rubles.
” NATO is and will remain chicken sh!t for as long as Foe Brandon is POTUS. “
NATO is sighing in relief that Russia did not test Article 5.
They would have failed.
Not much has been written about Ireland, but they fought a bunch of wars for centuries to keep their national identity, and it is getting crushed under the weight of the Big Tech pervert oligarchs.
Is that a picture of your hero and paymaster?
That has been the story of the Uke government. The nazi elements are not a majority, but they are violent and prone to impulsive action. A Kiev government is always under nazi threat if they do not follow Galician/DC policies.
Hush War Pig.
The critical issue has never been Ukraine joining NATO specifically. The issue has always been Ukraine obtaining security guarantees or entering into any bilateral or multilateral security arrangement with Western nations, whether under the NATO umbrella specifically or not.
The US and NATO discussed with Russia in January a watered-down form of NATO membership with restrictions on troops actually being in Ukraine. Russia rejected that. Ukraine already proposed to Russia days ago that it would not join NATO, but would remain free to enter into multilateral or bilateral security arrangements. Russia rejected that too.
What is noteworthy in this article is that zelensky still insists on Ukraine's right to enter into those kind of security relationships outside of nato, and Russia still rejects that. The idea that The invasion never would have happened had Ukraine taken this position earlier is false because Russia has indicated on multiple occasions that any form of security guarantees for Ukraine are unacceptable.
Who really cares about it? Ukraine has proven itself a worthy adversary to Russia without NATO. And besides, Russia has turned out to be an overhyped, poorly-equipped, poorly-led (basically poorly everything) paper tiger. The world is literally laughing at their incompetence
Well, at least you cited Jared Peterson, who is somewhat more credible than your other “sources.” Except for this: “Thirty years of spurning Russia’s openly expressed desire after the Soviet collapse for peace and normalcy between itself and Western Europe, including twenty years of gratuitous, deliberately threatening behavior by the West...”
Russia didn’t express such a desire; indeed, it stood in opposition to much of what the US and the West did in the years after the 1991 collapse of the USSR (Note: I actually agreed with Russia re: the actions of NATO in the Balkans under Clinton; we had no business getting involved in that). Russia didn’t so much as want rapprochement with the West than it was scared sh!tless of its vulnerability after 1991. It, understandably, wanted to stall for time until it could build up and lose its perceived vulnerability.
As for former Soviet satellite states wanting to join NATO, it was because they had suffered terribly under Russian dominance, and did not at all trust Russia. If they had nothing to fear from a “new” Russia, why did they want to be protected FROM Russia?
Does the US share some responsibility for meddling in Ukrainian internal affairs? Yup, it does. And that responsibility falls on the shoulders of Obama and Biden, arguably the most feckless administration in American history (and I see Biden/Harris as nothing more than the third term of Obama/Biden).
But, the simple fact is, that Putin invaded a sovereign nation that posed no real threat to Russia. And he’d been planning it for a LONG time. And, what smokescreens (that no one believed): Exercises; Peacekeeping force; assistance to ethnic Russians in Donbas.
Oh yeah... That’s logical and well-thought-out.
But don’t you understand? Poor tiny Russia without any kind of nuclear deterrent is scared to death of being conquered and exterminated by the resurrected Plans/Lithuania Commonwealth.
That’s “Poland”.
So all this death and destruction of cities may have all been in vain. Ukraine’s being in bed with Biden was suppose to be their security blanket. Lessons to be learned.
After that spectacular failure to uphold democracy, all bets were off in Ukraine.
try to keep up.Biden is in the White house now.
Yes, but congress and the media voted Ukraine the 51st state last month. We’re obligated to have 18 year olds bleed and die. Senator hunter burismo says so.
Yeh, when you are getting your zzz handed to you you get a come to Jesus moment.
